And in this video we have a record, now it is closed, of what The Greenhouse Pantry has meant to the community, a record of this beautiful project which ran for more than three years addressing food insecurity in the area but doing so much more too.
Greenhouse Pantry
We are a local food pantry as part of the Your Local Pantry franchise based in Craigmillar, Edinburgh
Sadly The Greenhouse Pantry closed it's doors for the last time yesterday. We've loved this project and thank you all for your support and kindness. Let's leave the final word to the staff, volunteers and in particular the members of the organisation who in this video very clearly and with care express what it's closure means to them
Community Alliance Trust, who ran the Greenhouse Pantry have a job advert out for a Trust Manager - part time role, closes 15th April. Know any suitable candidates? This is a good local job:

It is with great sadness and regret that Community Alliance Trust has taken the decision to close the Greenhouse Pantry.
This was a very difficult decision to make and it is unavoidable. Community Alliance Trust have not been able to secure funds to cover the Pantry's core costs - staff, rent, electricity etc.
Community Alliance Trust are sorry that we do not have any alternative to closure but will continue to supply fresh fruit and vegetables to other local food community outlets.
Community Alliance Trust know this news will have a big impact on members and want to want to give as much notice possible of the change. The closure will be effective from midday Friday 11th April.
The Greenhouse Pantry will open as usual in the weeks leading up to that final Friday, so please come and say goodbye.
Thank you for following this very loved project.

Many of our members are seeking work and work is the best way to make ends meet. For many people that needs to be flexible work and Flexible Working Scotland is a great resource for finding flexible job opportunities. Today, International Womens' Day sees the founder of that site, Lynn Houmdi write a blog for One Parent Families Scotland on how crucial flexible work is for people in that circumstance: https://opfs.org.uk/get-involved/news-and-events/blogs/work-that-works/?fbclid=IwY2xjawI5DARleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHX07sojHc38H1Rzlr3BppleDPQcMQj7ZeIaVFrdXY-RtVHZBRxLlkyjGiQ_aem_dkt4UB-0oIJPIQPL3LRhew
