I started Sassy School of Burlesque because I was searching for something that would give me confidence, not take it away. I wanted a space where people could walk in feeling unsure and walk out feeling unstoppable — a place built on empowerment, friendship, and the kind of joy you only find when you finally let yourself shine.
That search turned into a journey… and that journey became a dance school.
Eleven years later, we’re teaching weekly classes across Scotland and the Borders — multiple sessions every week, plus workshops that bring people together from every corner of the country.
And yesterday was one of those heart‑warming reminders of why we do this. Watching our dancers commit to six full hours of rehearsals for our annual Edinburgh Fringe run — four shows a night, every night — was nothing short of inspiring. Thanks to incredible local support, we’ve sold out every single year since 2018. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of community.
Sassy School of Burlesque isn’t just about burlesque, cabaret, or showgirl routines. It’s about people finding themselves. It’s about friendships that feel like family. It’s about walking into class after a long day and leaving feeling amazing.
