Hi there, I'm Chris and I'm here to offer a low cost, professional service to keep your bicycle running in great condition.

From complete services to individually priced repair jobs, I can cater for any job and always strive to be quick and affordable. I'll always give an accurate estimate of the work required. If anything else comes up during the work, I'll always agree costs before carrying out the extra work. I aim to have bikes ready within a day where possible but this will depend on if parts are required and availability.

Pentland Hills Edinburgh MTB Trail 31/08/2025

A route in the pentlands I've been doing this summer. Nothing too technical, the second climb can be tiring, but the views from Black Hill are worth it.
Sadly I had issues with the GoPro all day, and it would be the last time it was used as it packed in fully at the end of the ride.

Managing to get up to the a bit more often these days despite work, injuries and other things going on in the background.
Weather has been a mixed bag, from intense heat to pi***ng rain and strong winds.
Seen lots of wildlife, most of it took fast for me to photograph, but some hung about for a snap.
The toilets at Harlaw reservoir were a welcome sight, despite looking like they're sponsored by they definitely aren't.
Those views from black hill....
We're really lucky to have this place on our doorstep.

Keep an eye 👀 on those brake pads folks. The pads on this bike have been on a little too long, meaning the pad material wears down to the spring and backing plate.
When that happens it's the backing plates on the pads thats slowing the bike down, which then causes excessive and rapid wear on the rotor, as the rotor wears it gets thinner. You can actually see the step on the rotor from excessive wear in the circled area in the second photo.
As this wear gets worse, the rotor will fail eventually, far from idea in any scenario. 🚲🚴‍♂️🚵‍♀️

I finally have a website!
https://www.backyardbikes.co.uk/
It's not finished, there's a list of changes and edits I need to make, but it's at least live.

Have a look and see what you think.
