Highland Dance School located in Edinburgh and the Lothians! Highland dance school based in Gilmerton, Edinburgh teaching RSOBHD technique.

We teach both competitive and non-competitive dancers. Highland dancing has lots of benefits including improving children's co-ordination, fitness levels and having lots of fun. Dancers are encouraged to take annual examinations to enhance their progression. Some dancers choose to compete locally, nationally and internationally. A fabulous sport providing many possible future opportunities.

One of our favourite weekends of the year - an opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

Our wee team did us proud this weekend in hot, hot weather 🥵

We love to perform on the stages at the finish line both days - it can be very emotional watching the runners cross the line knowing that many of them are running for a charity very close to their hearts 💕 It's also a great experience to perform with so many things going on around us - a different version of our highland games 😀

Huge shout out to one of our dancers Hannah who ran the full marathon today - that highland dancer's grit, fight and spirit shone through today 💪

We've been a bit quiet on this page over the last year or so but it's time to kick off 2026.

Holly was delighted to attend the Rsobhd Pivot Into Action workshop in Paisley yesterday.

Thank you to the team from the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing for organising the event and to the fabulous instructors for delivering excellent lectures.

2026 let's be having you 🎉🎉

March and April were a fabulous few months with competitions and performances (home and overseas), as well as and welcoming new dancers to our classes. A second block of classes also started at our new venue at Armadale Partnership Centre.

Here's a small sample of what Team EGHD got up to in March and April.

Thank you to everyone who made these events possible.
