🏌️ Open to Visitors! The Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course set the heart of Edinburgh. The Merchants offers panoramic views over Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife and provides a challenging yet fun course for experienced golfers to those new to the game. Originally designed by Ben Sayers in 1907 and altered by James Braid in 1936, The Merchants is a community of passionate local golfers and includes a professional golf shop, a fully licensed bar and a dedicated club restaurant. Visitors are welcome to play our challenging course, enjoy a meal in our restaurant or simply have a drink on our bar veranda.

Did you know our historic layout brings together two legends of Scottish golf? ⛳️

Originally designed by legendary North Berwick professional Ben Sayers after our founding in 1907, the course was later redesigned in 1936 by 5-time Open Champion James Braid.

Braid’s genius was shaping a course that works in harmony with the natural contours of the Craiglockhart Hills, creating a fast-paced, strategic par 65 layout that delivers panoramic vistas across the Forth, Edinburgh Castle, and the Pentlands.

119 years on, it remains one of the most enjoyable and picturesque rounds in the capital.
