NUVOC Men's MVP this week is Paolo Benzoni! Paolo continued his impressive start to his NUVOC career, playing an integral role in the team’s straight sets victory over VA Vortex.

Paolo pulled out the service run to complete the team’s comeback in the first set, before dominating the rest of the game at the pins with a great mixture of power and smart plays.

A strong passing game on top of his great work at the net provided a solid all-round performance from NUVOC Men’s no.10. Well done Paolo!

NUVOC Men secured their 1st win of the season as they hosted newly promoted Volleyball Aberdeen Vortex.

The visitors started strong with a mixture of serves that put the hosts on the backfoot. With VA leading 19-12, the setter-oppo double sub proved well timed as Sean Platts Stobie and Jeremiah Obiekwe made an instant impact. Joel Gormley ramped up the pressure from the service line, bringing the set back into contention at 21-23. Eventual MVP, Paolo Benzoni stepped up from the service line after a brave side out from NUVOC, saving 2 sets points on the way to securing the 1st set 26-24.

NUVOC Men’s side-out unit worked smoothly from the start of the 2nd set, limited VA to only 4 points off their serve in the set. The NUVOC setters continued to find the pins well as the triple threat of Aaron Leith, Paolo Benzoni and Jeremiah Obiekwe proved too much for the visitors, NUVOC taking set 2, 25-14.

The team switched up the line-up heading into the 3rd set, but the team kept the same momentum, with Sean Platts Stobie leading off with a run of 5 serves, to give the team a 6-1 lead. NUVOC retained their strong pin hitting and were solid defensively to take the 3rd set; 25-16.

Another 3-week break will now occur, then the team will come back to test themselves away against defending champions; City of Glasgow Ragazzi!

Liberton NUVOC had their first home game of the season vs the veteran SVL 1 mainstay team, Lenzie.

Lenzie started strong by applying a great deal of service pressure on the team that the Liberton side wasn't ready for, combining that with clever offensive plays Lenzie were able to take the first set.

Coming into the 2nd set the fired up Liberton responded with their own service pressure, that combined with strong hitting and defensive play allowed the Liberton side to take the 2nd set.

The third set started strong, taking a commanding lead the Liberton team was getting into a good flow, however the team eased off and played too safe towards the end and Lenzie capitalised taking set 3.

Nuvoc came into the 4th set with a new mentality to play aggressively, bringing up a comfortable lead. While passions can be high in games abuse of refs and players should not be tolerated, and a red card handed out on set point sealed the set in favour of Nuvoc.

The fifth set came and it was anyone's game! Lenzie took an early lead due to their service pressure and in spite of a monumental effort from Liberton, along with a 2nd red card given out, Lenzie took the match.

Well done to all that played!

The Gillespies men kicked off the session in style with a hard-fought 3–2 home victory against Dundee M2!

After struggling with serve receive in the first set, the boys bounced back in set two with sharper passing and stronger attacking play.

From there, it was a nail biting battle, with both sides pushing each other all the way!

The match went down to a tie-break, where some outstanding blocking made all the difference! Gillespies stood strong at the net, shutting down Dundee’s attack and sealing a thrilling 15–12 victory!

A fantastic team effort, great resilience, and the perfect way to start the session!

Our U20 Women's MVP for this week is Jasmine;

She fought really well for this team and controlled the passing unit well. Her seams and spatial awareness were flawless and her confidence really shone in the first match of this team within the senior SVL devisions..

On the defensive side Jasmine was not afraid and refused to back away from strong attacks and read the whole opposition well, covering around her teammates and diving with no hesitation.

Jasmine has improved massively over the past year and is very deserving of this MVP award this week! Congratulations Jasmine!

The U20 women's team played against Glasgow Mets W2 this weekend with a tough defeat 3-0. Mets had a stronger side than expected however the under 20 team started with a strong few service runs. The first set really relied on these serving runs for Mets as the u20 side struggled to side out.

There were many good highlight plays from the Nuvoc side and it is the best defensive work this team has done so far. The team's service and control were great and this really pushed them and allowed them to stay fighting in the match.

Overall it was a very good learning experience for the players as they enter the senior leagues for the first time! We wish the girls the best of luck as they take on Glasgow International W2 this coming weekend!

Congratulations to former NUVOC Junior and Men’s 1st Team setter, Cole Turnbull, who secured a contract with Førde VBK in Norway for the coming season.

Having spent 3 seasons with University of Nottingham after leaving NUVOC, winning the BUCS Championship during his time in the programme, it’s brilliant to see Cole take the next steps in his volleyball career and to see all his hard work pay off!

Cole will make his debut in the Mizunoligaen against BK Tromsø today, who finished 2nd in the regular season behind Førde last season.
