Members of the Edinburgh Natural History Society will be visiting Hailes Quarry Park on Saturday 25th January as part of their series of field trips to green sites around Edinburgh.
You are very welcome to join them as they explore the natural history of the park and survey some of its species. It’ll be a brilliant way to find out more about the biodiversity of the park from experts in ecology.
The group will meet at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre to walk along the canal to the park at 10.30am. They will also meet people at the canal entrance to the park nearest to Longstone at 11.15am.

Longstone P3 came to the park a couple of weeks ago to plant some hedgerow trees celebrating 50 years of Wester Hailes.
We enjoyed a wonderful woodland performance from Rownbank Environmental Education and found pieces of a giant jigsaw to solve a puzzle.
Thanks to P3 and Rowanbank for a brilliant morning.

We discovered these slides of Hailes Quarry Park taken in 1976. Caroline from Prospect Community Housing digitised them and they are also available on the Wester Hailes Digital Sentinel.
Anyone remember when the park looked like this?
