We’ve just come back from a fab trip to Shetland with New Ventures Charters on the Karin. We mainly dived wrecks the Fraoch Ban (fishing boat), Pionersk (Russian Klondyker), Lunokhods (Russian Klondyker), E49 (submarine), Tonis Chandris (Steam Ship), Gwladmena (Steam Ship) and Glenisla (Steam Ship), with one scenic dive at the Giants Legs. Thank you for a fab trip and thank you Naomi Watson for pics of Fraoch Ban, E49, and Glenisla.

A few of the amazing things we saw on our Red Sea Safari. The trip included many types of diving. Classic reef, wall, drift, wreck and night diving. Having gained the confidence of the local guides we were allowed on the hole to dive unguided. this included night diving. Giving us much more freedom to take the time to look and photo what we wanted to.

A few photos from our trip to Drishaig reef Loch Fyne on Sunday. life slows down in the west coast lochs in the winter. Still plenty to see if you look a little harder.

With winter well and truly here now, we're turning our attention to some club activities that help us have excellent and safe dive days the rest of the year round.

On Saturday, whilst some of our members were working hard on club RIB repairs and maintenance, others were learning basic life support and defibrillator use.

Hopefully they're skills we will never need to use, but learning and regular practice of basic life support ensures members know what to do in an emergency situation to deliver an immediate and effective response to a medical crisis.

Come & see the shallow wreck of the Hispania with us 🌊 ⚓️

Great weeeknd with Lothian Divers Edinburgh Divetech BSAC 1067

Backstory: On December 17, 1954, the cargo ship Hispania left Liverpool, heading for Sweden with steel, asbestos, and rubber. Battling rough weather, Captain Dahn chose a safer route through the Scottish islands.
By the evening of the 18th, near Tobermory, disaster struck. In the darkness and storm, the ship hit a reef near Mull. Though she briefly backed off, the damage was done — the ship was sinking fast.
The crew launched lifeboats and made it to safety, but Captain Dahn refused to leave his ship. As Hispania sank beneath the waves, the last sight of the captain was him standing on the bridge, saluting.
A tragic but heroic end to a stormy journey. 🌊⚓️
