If you are nearby to Helensburgh this Thursday evening, pop along to this free talk from Wessex Archaeology about finding the wreck of the Paddlesteamer Comet which sank in 1820.

Come along and enjoy a talk about the search for the remains of Helensburgh’s celebrated PS Comet, Europe’s first commercial paddle steamer built in 1812 for Henry Bell, ex Provost of Helensburgh. The vessel was wrecked at Craignish Point in 1820. Part of Helensburgh’s CARS project, the talk on 26 February, at Helensburgh Civic Centre, will take you on a journey of exploration and adventure.

Hello! Hope you’re well ☺️
Just getting in touch about a trip we have in a couple of weeks which we are struggling to pin down instructors for and wondered if you/anyone you know is interested!

Where: Ratagan hostel, Loch Duich
We have the whole hostel booked out and it is possible to dive right in front of the hostel

When: 15th - 17th of November
Arrive Friday night, dive Saturday & Sunday, leave Sunday afternoon

Cost: Instructors: £30 to cover cost of food for the weekend, we can cover accommodation

Accommodation: Shared hostels style dorms, bunk beds

Food: Sarah from Honeydew charters is cooking for the weekend and we will get the students to chip in and help out! But all meals will be provided

Instructing: We have people needing to do a range of courses from OD to DL, if people have a preference for what they will instruct!

BSAC welcomes its new North Scotland Regional Coach Robin Kirkpatrick is an Advanced Instructor and Assistant Instructor Trainer with a wealth of dive agency experience

We’re currently looking for buoyancy and Trim instructors who can help us out on the 4th of March.. Please get in touch if you can help or know someone who can!

Interested in becoming an ADP instructor? I have space left for two assistant instructors on the upcoming ADP course on 25th & 26th March (see pinned event for details). Pre-rec is you are an OWI with the ADP course completed (or equivalent e.g. CCR ticket). Get in touch with me (Deborah McNeill), if you would be interested in getting involved.

Still time to book on to our Oxygen Administration course running next month. Open to all BSAC Ocean Divers and other agency equivalents this course gives valuable training in safety and rescue techniques, plus diving first aid. Get signed up!
