IAKSA kickboxing opened its first classes in Scotland over 20 years ago growing to over 20 classes in a variety of locations in the country. The first class in Edinburgh opened in 1993 in Portobello town hall under one of IAKSA's head instructers Craig Foster from then it has expanded and now has 2 clubs in Craigentinny and Easter road which now all train and fight as IAKSA Edinburgh Assassins. The success of the clubs is highlighted by the numerous Scottish,Brittish,European and World champions it has produced over the years. Edinburgh Assassins Kickboxing Club is affiliated to IAKSA Kickboxing Scotland which conforms to the light, semi and full contact competition style of Lau Gar Kung Fu.This style of Kickboxing and kung-fu were brought to Scotland from China by Master Jeremy Yau in 1961. Our style consists of a combination of explosive kicks and strong hand techniques. As you progress the introduction of open hand, knee and elbow strikes and the use of weapons (mainly the knife, kali sticks, broadsword and staff) will be integrated into your training. The tournament side of kickboxing is second to none, providing a platform from club level and Scottish tournaments, going on to national level and advancing to international competition. Within the style, our fighters have won over twenty World Championship medals combined, as well as numerous other gold, silver and bronze medals in the European Championships and other prestigious tournaments.

🥊 UCE 5 FIGHT SHOW 🥊

Not the results we went for last night, losing both fights, but far from disappointed.

Both fighters stepped into the ring, gave it everything they had and, although the decisions didn’t go our way, walked back out with their heads held high after giving great accounts of themselves. They can both be proud of their performances — I certainly am. 🖤💚

First up we had David. He started strong with a great first round, controlling the distance and pace of the fight. His opponent changed things up in the second, putting the pressure on and taking the round, which set up a big third and final round.

Both fighters left everything in the ring in a round that could have gone either way, with his opponent Stuart getting the split decision on the judges’ scorecards.

Then it was onto Tor, making both his ring and full-contact debut and stepping up to fight for the WKU Scottish Low Kick Title over five rounds.
And what a fight it was from start to finish! 🔥

Both fighters landed clean, damaging shots throughout. Tor started a wee bit slowly and took some time to grow into the fight, with his opponent probably edging the opening three rounds, although there wasn’t a lot in them.
But the longer the fight went, the more Tor settled into it. He continued to listen, make adjustments and grow stronger as each round passed. He dug deep and finished the fight brilliantly, landing some lovely shots and probably taking the final two rounds.
It wasn’t to be on this occasion, but for a first time in the ring and first full-contact fight, over five rounds for a Scottish title, there is so much to take from that performance and a very bright future ahead.

You either win or you learn. 👊🏼

We’ll take the lessons, get back in the gym and come back stronger.

A massive thank you as well to everyone who came along to support the lads. It was brilliant to see so many of our team, friends and family there in great numbers, getting behind both fighters and making plenty of noise. Having that kind of support behind them means a lot to the fighters and to us as a club, and it certainly didn’t go unnoticed. 💚🖤

Congratulations to both of our opponents on their wins, and a huge well done to David and Tor for representing themselves and the team with pride.
💚🖤🥊
