Last Monday was a very special day for me — one of those beautiful moments when life seems to come full circle. ❤️

Some of our dancers were invited to perform at a care home here in Edinburgh, and there was an especially meaningful reason behind the invitation. We had been asked to dance for a former Edinburgh ballet teacher and can you believe it, I found out she was one of my very first ballet teachers and one of the very best here in Scotland at the time. Many of you may know and have been taught by her: Mrs Denny

I trained at the Academy of Ballet with the wonderful Jack Spurgeon and Joan Tucker, alongside Mrs Denny. All three were hugely inspirational to me and played such an important part in my early life in ballet.

So, many years later, to find myself bringing my own dancers to perform for one of the teachers who helped shape my love of dance was incredibly moving. Watching the dancers perform, knowing how much those early teachers influenced my journey, made the whole experience feel very special indeed.

A beautiful reminder that the inspiration we receive as young dancers can stay with us for a lifetime — and that, in turn, we get the privilege of passing that love of dance on to the next generation. 🩰❤️✨

Did you know every Thursday, Miss Everrit, Mrs Hardie and I spend an hour and a half together reviewing our class plans, discussing what we want to focus on each week and sharing ideas to ensure we are continually developing and improving what we offer our students.

We put a great deal of thought and care into making sure our classes are fun, engaging and, most importantly, that every child is continually learning, developing and progressing.

This week, we’ve been attending an RAD Grade 1 & 2 course, and during the holidays we’ll be completing a Grade 3 course, alongside further training as new opportunities arise.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an important part of our yearly commitment, helping us to keep learning, stay inspired and bring fresh ideas into our teaching.

We’ve already been inspired by what we’ve learned this week and have started putting new ideas and techniques into our classes. We’re passionate about continuing to learn ourselves so that we can provide the best possible experience and opportunities for the children we teach.

Here we are on Thursday after our meeting!

A huge thank you to Diane and Jen from our Adult Ballet classes for their kindness and generosity! 🩰💕

While at a book talk with Steven McRae, they bought the school this wonderful book, Anything Is Possible with Ballet! — and Steven kindly signed it for everyone at the school! 📖✨

Such a thoughtful gift. Thank you both for spreading a little extra ballet magic! 🩰❤️

I shall take the book to the dance studio where everyone is welcome to look at it.
