Tyler McLelland, Fiona Muirhead and Alex Medley will all be traveling to Italy for The World Boccia Challenger Olbia.

Each of them will be hoping to continue their solid play. Having all won medals so far this year whilst competing internationally.🏆

Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) is delighted to announce that three Para Athletes, have recently been inducted into the SDS Hall of Fame.🌟

Gordon Reid OBE, Samantha Kinghorn OBE, and Stephen McGuire MBE have been three of the most influential Scottish Para Athletes over the last 20 years. Each of them raise their performances when pressure is at it’s highest, having all won Paralympic gold medals.🥇

Gordon, Samantha, and Stephen are all fantastic role models for the disability community in Scotland, the UK and around the world, and are all worthy inductees into SDS’s Hall of Fame.

The University of the West of Scotland have a current research project, and need your help.✨

The study explores how athletes with physical disabilities, both in and outside of the UK, experience and navigate menstruation within a sporting context.

What is involved? - Participants will take part in semi-structured, participant-led interviews incorporating photo-elicitation to support discussion and provide deeper insight into their lived experiences.

The study will also look at menstrual experiences and management. Current barriers and facilitators to participation, communication and support. Furthermore, how menstruation and disability interact with sport participation and athletic identity.

Findings will provide an athlete-centred understanding of this intersection and inform the subsequent studies within the PhD.

Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) would encourage anyone interested to use the email found in the attached graphic to register their interest with the research team.💙

Scottish Boccia Open 2026🏆

We had an excellent weekend at ENGAGE in Edinburgh for the Scottish Boccia Open 2026 supported by Cormack Consultancy.

26 players from across the UK took to the court to battle it out for the Scottish Open titles across the BC1-4 classifications. The event displayed an exceptional standard of boccia with a mix of players from across the UK pathway, from challenger level debutants right through to recent pairs World Champion, Stephen McGuire.

Thanks to our sponsor Cormack Consultancy for their generous support of this event which has allowed us to maintain the multi-day format. Further thanks to our wonderful group of volunteers and officials, without whom, the event would not be possible.

Well done to everybody that took part and congratulations to all of our medallists and champions.

Scottish Squash have seven exciting part-time positions available.🌟

Following sportscotland’s Club Support Programme that was launched earlier this year, seven part-time club coach and club development roles have been created to support clubs throughout each of Scottish Squash’s regions.

These posts will play a vital role in supporting clubs to; build capacity, help volunteers, and create more sustainable structures that enable clubs to grow participation, sustain or grow their membership, and put them in a stronger position to better serve their communities.
