Focus Calisthenics Move with purpose - Train with Focus

Why do you actually train?

Some say that the meaning of life is to create memories doing the things we enjoy with the people we hold dear. If this is true, then it is imperative we have a healthy body capable of moving, free of pain for as long as possible.

If you don't enjoy the instance of working your body, then enjoy the knowledge of memories to come. You work on your body today, so you can enjoy your life today AND tomorrow.

Jo!

Since Jo started with us in March, she has been very consistent with coming to classes. Jo has a background in yoga, so she was already used to some bodyweight exercise. However, over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of watching her become stronger in her movement. This is what we all aspire to, consistency and regularity in our movement, getting a little better every time. Jo has also been active in growing our community by bringing her friend along for some sessions too.

Jo, keep doing what you're doing!

If you don’t move your spine, you lose its movement.

Modern life keeps us moving in straight lines, but your spine evolved for complex twisting and rotation.

Save these 3 exercises to bring some rotation and freedom back into your back.

Balance isn't just an athletic skill but a window into how well your brain and nervous system are doing.

Sophie!

Over the past few months, Sophie has been working hard to achieve her crow pose which requires a lot of wrist strength, mobility, and core engagement.

Sophie has been attending classes regularly since December 2025 and this dedication and perseverance has certainly paid off.

Well done Sophie!

No gym? No problem!

You don't NEED a gym to keep your body fit and healthy. Here are 3 exercises you can do anywhere... even out on a hot, hard, dirt path.

Explanation of the moves:
1) The Bear Crawl
Try to keep your knees close to the ground but not touching, moving with control. Try not to fall into your steps. Move opposite arm to leg. Your hips stay at one height (don't bob up and down). This is great for building strength in your knees especially, but your whole body will be working throughout this one.

2) Split Squat to Balance Tap
Starting with a split squat, your knee comes close to, but doesn't touch the ground (increasing time under tension). Then balancing on one foot, tap your knee, and then your toes (or your shin if not flexible yet). This is great for your glutes, quads, core and balance.

3) Twisted Push Up
A variation of a push up. Starting in Bear Crawl position, twist your body moving your knees away from you. Then your arms perform a push up as usual. This will work your core, chest, shoulders and triceps.

However you choose to move... move with purpose; train with Focus.
