🇪🇺 🇺🇸 Europe vs the USA are ready to do battle in the annual Tolbooth Ryder Cup at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon today.

🙌 In proper Ryder Cup fashion, the day will consist of six matches in the morning, and another six in the afternoon.

👨‍🍳🍻 Have a great day folks and we will see you back in the clubhouse for some delicious food and of course, plenty of refreshments!

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone our Around The World Food Night tomorrow.

We are currently identifying a new date in the busy calendar and will release details of this once they are confirmed.

🤝 A huge thank you to the 175 players who took part in the Buchan Seniors held at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon today.

🙌 It was a phenomenal turnout and we are extremely grateful to everyone for their support.

🤝 A huge thank you goes to John Garvie and Norman Law who today came out for several hours in the rain to help our greens staff with cutting our Front 9.

🚜 As you can imagine, our greens team are doing everything they can to ensure our cutting programme remains on schedule, but this has been made difficult over the past few days due to the heavy rainfall we have had in Ellon.

👍 Both John and Norman were out cutting our rough and tees on our Front 9.

👉 As you can see by this picture, our 4th hole, which a few years ago was prone to being very wet after substantial rainfall, was looking exceptional tonight, as was the whole of the Front 9.

🙌 Many thanks John and Norman for your assistance today – it was greatly appreciated by our greens staff and members.

🏆 With less than two weeks to go until our eagerly anticipated Pro-Am at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon, in partnership with PGA in Scotland, we are delighted to announce the confirmation list of professionals for our annual flagship event.

👍 These include Gavin Hay Golf, of East Renfrewshire, who currently leads the PGA in Scotland Order of Merit by 100 points.

🏌️ Chris Currie and John Henry, who are also both ranked in the top 10 of the Order of Merit, will also be playing on the day.

⛳ The day will include a hole-in-one competition, with the prize of a £15,000 kitchen from John Willox Kitchen Design up for grabs on our 11th hole. Other prizes from John Willox are also available on the remaining Par 3s.

✅ Our popular putting competition will return again on our practice green, with our clubhouse sponsored by J M Taylor Accountants Limited.

🙌 A nearest the pin competition on our 15th hole and a straightest drive competition on our 9th hole will also be held on the day.

💯 A raffle and auction with a variety of exclusive prizes will take place in our clubhouse after the round.

👨‍🍳 As always, delicious food will be served to all our teams by our chef Gordon Cuthbert, including his renowned carvery.

🙏 We are immensely proud of our very own Kelly Mechie who narrowly missed out on winning the North East’s Ladies Scratch Champion of Champions today.

⛳ In a nail-biting finish at Inverallochy, Kelly was pipped to winning the cup on the 20th hole by Robyn Gallon (3.7) of Duff House.

🏆 This event involves all the club champions from each North East golf club, who battle it out against each other in knockout matches for the ultimate prize.

🙌 Kelly’s campaign throughout the tournament has been one to remember, winning matches at Meldrum House and Inverurie, before reaching the final with a semi-final win at Ellon.

🏆 Congratulations to Dot Mackinnon who has won our Volunteers Cup at McDonald Golf Club, Ellon.

👏 The torrential rain was no match for our fantastic Dot who scored a magnificent 39 points to win!

👍 The silver plate was bought by our head greenkeeper Bill Shepherd as a thank you to our course volunteers for supporting our greens staff throughout the year.
