A secondary heat exchanger is fitted above the main power unit turbine. This cools the primary output from the recycled sub-light thrusters. Looking forward to plumbing this in.

Back to the build. With the heat exchanger and seat installed, you can see that the pilot it seated just about the intake for the main motor. Enjoyed plumbing in the cooling pipes.

A variation of todays uses an steering wheel release coupling as the emitter heat shield.

Just the emitter shield to press on and we’re nearly done.

Next step is to machine a pocket for the emitter button. A button made from an off-cut of material used on C3PO’s original suit. Of course.

Then antique plated various components and relieved the high surfaces on the lay shaft.

Followed by some heat treatment to replicate the effect of blade transfer from the emitter when activated.

Next we opened up the inside of this F1 rear damper spring mount so it interference fits to the gearbox shaft.

First stage was to built up some texture layers with paint and a special vintage plating system we developed.

Time to select one from the mock up parts. These all use a series of F1 gearbox layshafts. We removed the teeth from one end, shortened and pre-assembled with other F1 components.

Starting to build an ex Red Bull heat exchanger which mounts to the rear of the custom foam made seat that using waste air from the pitch (f-duct) steering system to cool the power cell. Nothing goes to waste here.
