Try not to over-train. A session should leave you feeling as if you've worked, but still have a little more to give. If you find yourself boasting that "you could hardly move the next day" you've overdone it, haven't got the most from your session, and you've increased your chances of injury.

From today's fitness class warm-up at Southbourne Village Hall. Today was biceps, triceps and shoulders. Everyone worked hard, with great posture and form. Well done all. It's on at 0900 Tue and Thurs and the first class is free for anyone wanting to give it a go.

This weeks post is about back pain. Ever suffered from it? You are not alone! 80% suffer at some point, 30% suffer at any one time. Weeks are lost from work....and it hurts. look after your back as best you can, try and be mindful of your posture, take breaks from sitting too long as this can tighten some muscles and overstretch others causing imbalances in your posture. Today's top tip is be careful how you get out of a chair. Most people lean forward, drop their shoulders and use momentum to get up - try shuffling forward, bringing your feet closer, tightening that core, shifting your weight over your hips and focus on driving the floor away with your feet.

Beginners fitness class is tomorrow. Very exciting. Southbourne Village Hall 9-10 am. No floor work or equipment, just you working at a pace and intensity that's right for you. First class is free. Improve your balance, coordination, core strength and endurance for everyday living. Fun, and pitched at a level anyone can join in with.

Anyone wanting to work their abs, do suspension training. I thought I was pretty solid, but did a suspension training course and I can still feel my abs 2 days later....and I didn't even notice I was working them.
