The owners of 17 gardens will be inviting garden lovers to enjoy the experience of wandering through the village and entering their gates.
Open Gardens at Westbourne is a charity event that runs every 3 years. 20 gardens opening up to the public in the beautiful village of Westbourne on the West Sussex/ Hampshire border Delights include small, exquisitely designed patio gardens; those with water meandering through them; carefully manicured and tastefully planted mature gardens; large spaces with impressive vistas and gardens designed
and planted to show standard. All proceeds from the event will raise money for local charities. It is an event for all the family. In addition, there will be treasure trails for children (garden elves and fairies to be sought out); ice creams to cool if it’s hot and home produced teas served in ‘vintage’ style on the vicarage lawn if it’s not. In addition, there will be the opportunity to sample English wines and a raffle with generous prizes. Gardeners are planning, sowing, potting-on and generally excited about the season ahead. This is particularly so in Westbourne, an attractive, quintessentially English village perfectly positioned between the sea and the South Downs, just north of the sailing village of Emsworth. The cost of entry is £8, to cover all gardens, free for children under the age of 14. Gardens will be open from 10.30am to 5.00pm with a large, clearly sign-posted car park being available on the day (post code: PO10 8RN). Please come for an exceptional event and the privilege of enjoying the beauty of many garden lovers’ lovingly tended spaces. A wide range of interest and entertainment will be offered in addition and all proceeds go to local charities and organisations.
