I saw a post about a Rottweiler's brain being divided into a handful of simple compartments: food, sleep, walks, balls, and being close to its owner...So I made one specific for Rodtang.

It made me think about how complicated we make our own minds.

Rodtang has seven compartments.

I only need three.

God of the bible.
Business.
My sons.

The God of the bible comes first because He gives me purpose, direction, and a standard to live by. Before I can lead anyone else, I need to be led myself...

Business comes second because it is one of the ways I serve God. It allows me to provide for my family, fulfill my responsibilities, and become the man I am called to be...

My sons come third, but they are woven through everything. Being a son of God teaches me how to be a better father to the sons He has entrusted to me. Every lesson in patience, sacrifice, discipline, and love and yes hate...starts with Him and flows into how I raise them.

When life gets noisy, I try to simplify things. Some compartments get paused while others play out.

If something doesn't strengthen my relationship with God or Serve a purpose for Him, help me fulfill my responsibilities, or make me a better father, it probably doesn't deserve much of my attention.

Rodtang has his priorities figured out.

I'm still working on mine.

VO₂ Max enables you to see how much oxygen you can use at your highest energy output.

People who do VO₂ Max testing are often elite athletes. It can help us accurately assess whether an athlete is improving their aerobic capacity and potentially their performance. However, this is not always the case because two athletes with the same VO₂ Max can perform very differently depending on other variables.

Hence, two people with the same VO₂ Max can often perform differently; there are more dependable and reliable markers that I believe should also be tracked.
My name is Jonathan Gomez Alexandra, business owner of All Round Athlete in Epsom, Surrey. I also work at V Fit Gym. I currently train professional athletes, and the main athletes I apply these markers with are Nathaniel Wood in the UFC and Nick Bagley, the Featherweight Cage Warriors Champion. I am also the Prospect Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach.

I hope this gives you a simple breakdown.
Performance also depends on:

🔥 Lactate threshold
🛡️ Durability
🍌 Fueling
💪 Muscular strength
🧠 Tactical ex*****on

I do believe VO₂ Max testing has its place; however, analytics can sometimes become too addictive for the average person, especially when people begin scrutinising their training because the numbers are not matching perfectly across the board.
I apply different protocols with different athletes, and there are other markers you can consistently test on a daily basis to monitor performance.
For general health, simpler markers often matter more:

❤️ Resting heart rate
🩺 Blood pressure
⚡ Weekly training load & CNS stress (sympathetic/parasympathetic balance)
⚖️ Weight
😴 Sleep quality
🚶 Aerobic capacity in everyday life

I believe it becomes overcomplicated and irrational when a single score is used to dictate how “fit” somebody is, especially when there are many other positive metrics to consider.
However, for elite athletes, VO₂ Max can still be a valuable metric to help guide programming and performance decisions.

You’re not “starving” ...your brain is cashing in all the stress, boredom, tiredness, and self-control you spent during the day. Evening pig-outs are usually emotional, not hunger driven. 🍕🍫

The International Weightlifting Federation changed weight classes to reset records, modernize categories, improve anti-doping oversight, and better align with Olympic quotas.

Pros
-Fairer athlete distribution across classes
-Cleaner “new era” after doping scandals
-More competitive Olympic qualification
-Fresh world records create hype

Cons
-Old records become harder to compare historically
-Fans lose continuity with legendary totals
-Athletes may cut/bulk awkwardly into new classes
-Some records look weaker after resets

2400m sea swim in 54 minutes 🌊🏅

The goal is simple: keep improving, stay uncomfortable, and build a body and mind that can handle anything. 💪

“When the body gets tired, the mind decides whether you stop or keep going.” 🌊💪

Loving the conditioning. 📈

Most CEOs, business owners, and hard-working professionals aren’t lazy.

They’re exhausted, stretched thin, stressed, and stuck in survival mode living off caffeine or junk food.

Long hours. Constant pressure. Providing for everyone else while slowly neglecting themselves, I have been in the business long enough, and I see this as an observational truth.

And eventually, that starts projecting onto the family.

Low energy. Weight gain. No structure. Less patience. Less confidence(This can then trigger the start of smoking, drinking, and drug use.) Less presence at home.

The truth is, your kids don’t just listen to what you say, they copy what you do.

If you’re constantly tired, unhealthy, reactive, and running on empty, that becomes normal to them.

But when you start training, eating better, building discipline, and taking control of your health again… they see that too.

You don’t need to become obsessed with fitness.

You just need to become someone your family can look at and say: “He takes care of himself.”
“He leads by example.”
“He shows up.”
That mindset doesn’t just improve your body.

It improves your focus, productivity, confidence, and performance in business too.

More energy.
Clearer thinking.
Better discipline.
Less stress.
More output.

Fix yourself first, and your habits start shadowing onto the people around you, especially your children.

That’s what real transformation is.
Not just looking better.
Leading better.
