New parents’ baby bubble can often feel like a timeless space! I’m going to save you some time – babies, for the first month, tend to spend around 16 hours sleeping in the form of three to four hour naps spaced evenly between feedings. After one to two hours of baby being awake, you’ll notice baby is sleepy again! 😴

Can siblings help with bedtime?
Siblings are great for many things and we know lots of parents who lean on them to help guide, teach and watch over the children.
The thing about bedtime routine is it has to be consistent – and oftentimes those involved become comfort attachments for baby. That’s why the key to any sleep coaching is consistency.
Sometimes, with younger children, they get their own ideas and aren’t always consistent – perhaps they’ll have homework or playing on their mind instead of helping with bedtime.
This is why it might be a better idea to involve them in other ways and keep bedtime consistent for baby.

Do you ever put baby to sleep and think, ‘I wish someone would put me down for a nap!’
With sleep cycles all out of the usual, and baby’s sleep setting the schedule, it’s important to also acknowledge that you are likely getting less sleep than usual – and less than what is optimal!
Don’t be afraid to follow the classic new baby rule: sleep when they sleep!
Go, get some rest, you deserve it!
