Saturday 30th May

Our 1st XIโ€™s difficult start to the season continued against a strong Sheen Park side, who continued their 100% record. Strong batting gave Sheen a mighty 307 for 8 off their 50 overs, with Muhammad Khanโ€™s 3 for 30 and out u19s captain Ewan Carlinโ€™s 2 for 56 giving some counter to the high scoring.
In reply, we fell to 43 for 6, before some fight back saw us to a more respectful 193 all out. Irfan Ahmedโ€™s 40, Ewanโ€™s 30, Mustafa Qureshi and Pardeep Jassi scoring 29 each and Khurram Nasserโ€™s 22 at the end all being unable to prevent a beating by 114 runs.

2nd XI succumbed to home defeat by 3 wickets vs Old Whitgiftians 1st XI. Batting first, a few of our players got starts without kicking on, Shaharyar Bajwa top scoring with 25. Old Whitgiftians achieved their target with 10 overs to spare, but with Ewell taking regular wickets. Under 19s player Abdul Adel pick of the bowlers with 3 for 53.
I did hear a rumour that the teas were very good for this home game this week. This may or may not be due to your admin being on tea duty this week ๐Ÿ˜Š

Our 3rd XI were away to Chessington 2nd XI at the always lovely Chessington CC. A top notch bowling performance saw us whip out Chessington for just 142. Under 15s players were the pick of the bowling attack. Dwijโ€™s spin saw him return 4 wickets for 32 and Luke opened the bowling and finished with figures of 9 - 6 - 4 - 3. Well done boys ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Ewell made hard work of the lower target, winning by just the 1 wicket, with junior coach Divyesh Patel, batting at 10, smashing a four for the win. Top scorer was Muzaffar Hanif with a match winning 43 off 66 balls. This was the 3s first win of the season and moves us above Chessington to 7th in the league table.

Sunday 31st May

Our 1st XI were away to Claygate CC. A good start by Vijay Palanisamy (35) and under 17s player, Sarvesh (40) then saw our innings fizzle to 140 all out off 30 overs. In reply, Claygate achieved the target to win by 3 wickets. Captain Umer Farooqโ€™s 2 for 18 off his 8 overs was the pick of the bowlers.

Our 2nd / Academy Development XI had a fantastic match at home to St Mary Magdalene CC, who were a great bunch. Team captain and under 19s captain Ewan Carlin (54 off 51), Matt Gabb (40 off 41) and a career best of 27 by Eoin Thornton were big scores next to under 15s player Rhys, who scored his first adult 50 and under 15s player Ryan with his highest adult score so far with 22 off 24 at the end of the innings. Good scored which pushed us to a team high score of 249 for 6 off 40 overs. However, St Maryโ€™s had a great chase, with opener Simon Brandon scoring 101 off 112 balls and captain, the Reverend Tim Rose scoring 35 off 30 and got St Maryโ€™s looking like they were going to achieve the high target. However, Ewan brought himself on to bowl and finished with career best bowling figures of 6-0-32-6, which guided Ewell to a close win by just 11 runs.
Credit to Dave, our groundsman, for a good deck producing 487 runs in a Sunday friendly game.
