Evenlode Riding Club The club is run entirely by volunteers and has grown from 64 members when it started to the over 100 that it has today.

The aim of the club is to expand the riders and horses knowledge and make new friends whilst not forgetting that riding is fun!!!!!By becoming a member you can attend our regular training clinics, members only and open competitions. The Evenlode Riding Club is a British Riding Clubs affiliated organisation which was formed in March 1956 to provide training opportunities and competitions for riders in the Cotswolds, particularly for those interested in dressage, showjumping and eventing, or horse trials as it was known then. We have a growing junior contingent who, along with the seniors are excelling at Area and National level in a number of disciplines. We hold regular training sessions in dressage, showjumping and cross-country at venues in the local area using popular and talented trainers to help our members get the best out of their horses. We also run both a summer and winter dressage series of unaffiliated shows for riders from beginner to elementary level. In addition we send teams and individuals to represent the club at area level competitions (BRC Area 18), many of whom then qualify to compete at the various National Championships that take place throughout the year in the core equestrian disciplines.

🌟 Area 18 Open Dressage Qualifier 🌟

A fast follower in the winter series, the Area 18 Open Dressage qualifier is coming up, our final dressage qualifier until 2027.

This is being held at CCR Equestrian, GL4 0XA, on Sunday 08 November, kindly hosted by Bromyard RC.

This is a qualifier for the BRC Winter Dressage Championships being held on 23-25 April 2027 at Arena UK, Grantham.

Pre-entries close in 2 weeks, on Sunday 01 November, so please let Beth Woodward know asap if you would like to be entered for ERC, and what test you would like to ride.

🌟We also need to provide a volunteer for this competition, so please let us know if you’re able to help for half a day(even if you’re not competing and would like to help this competition run, we’d appreciate the support). You will be fed and watered 🍰 🌟

🌟 Upcoming Area 18 qualifiers - final call for entries 🌟

We have two qualifiers on the 1st of November with entry deadlines fast approaching!

- Allens Hill, 01 November, Winter Showjumping qualifier

Entries close this coming Friday, 16 October, do we have any final takers? We’ve got a good take up already, and we’d love to send a 70 cm team but we need one/two more riders to join us - is anyone interested? If so please reach out to Katie Jones as soon as possible!

A belated congratulatory post for last week’s BRC Combined Training champs! Our team came a fabulous 9th out of 31 teams 🎉🏅

Superstars of the day were Helen J Roberts and Flamboyant, with a 29.0 dressage and clear SJ round, coming second overall, being pipped to the post to 1st, ending on the same score as the winner, and it coming down to time with less than a second in it 🥈

Holly Evans and Big Bang came 13th after a cracking test for 24.4 but an unfortunate couple of poles SJ. Bella Clarkson and Liatris did a great test in a competitive class, placing 21st after an unlucky 4 faults. My (Beth Woodward) little mare Jess did a sweet test and warmed up well to SJ but decided otherwise after getting in the ring, resulting in elimination 🙈

We were all so very sad to hear that Chris Hall had passed away last month. He was a loyal supporter of ERC and had taught dozens of training clinics for us over the years as well as team training sessions and supporting our riders at competitions. Always friendly and helpful with a smile on his face, Chris had a great sense of humour that extended into his teaching style. He had a knack of getting the best out of horse and rider during a session without over-facing anyone. He had a huge depth of knowledge and was so willing and able to share it. Many of us enjoyed training with him over a number of years, some even a couple of decades. He will be much missed in the area, in the eventing world and by all of us at ERC. Our thoughts are with his wife Teresa and daughters Lucy and Abi as they navigate their grief. Rest in Peace Chris.
