Over 50’s Review
With 4 new players making their debut against last year’s winners - Central we knew we needed to be focused and strong.
We got off to a flying start with a fabulous goal from Toko on her debut which was quickly followed up with another stunning goal from her to give us a 2-0 lead at half time. Central came out in the second half on a mission, with quality across the team they got two quick goals. There were opportunities at both ends to get a winner but it finished 2-2.
Game 2 was against the newly established North East side. All the elements we had been working on during our 2 training camps came together creating some fantastic passages of play ending in some fine team goals. It was great to get four players on the score sheet with Beth, Jo S, Tibbs getting one a piece and Lynne x2.
We moved swiftly on to game 3 against the North West with both teams creating early opportunities and it was pretty even until one of the North West shots took a sharp deflection into the back of the net. From there, the North West team managed the game beautifully resulting in our first loss of the day.
The South East was our last opponents of the day and had just come off the back off a win. With opportunities at both ends it was going to be who scored first. As we pushed for a goal, the South East got a quick break ending with a 1 on 1, with Emma saving the first shot but not the rebound. We were then again chasing the game, creating lots of opportunities, hitting the post and the SE keeper making a number of fine saves to keep the score 1-0.
The standard of football across the regions has definitely taken a step up and it was great that the SW had taken a giant leap too.
Alongside a fabulous team effort, there were some great individual performances; Toko scoring 2 goals on her debut, Tibbs scoring and getting 2 assists and Jo Stock playing in number of positions scoring on her debut. But players player of the day went to Emma “Earps” who made some amazing saves throughout the day, alongside saving a penalty in the last game!

To all our regional players tommorrow ⚽️🏴
For you all 🏴⚽️
Today is not just another football match.
This is a moment to believe.
Believe in yourselves.
Believe in each other.
Believe that even though this is our first time stepping onto the pitch together as one team, that does not make us weak, it makes us hungry, excited, and full of potential.
Other teams may have more experience together.
But football is not won on paper.
It’s won through togetherness, heart, communication, and the willingness to fight for one another.
Unity will be our strength.
When one of us makes a mistake, we lift them.
When one of us is tired, we run for them.
When one of us succeeds, we all celebrate it.
Play brave.
Call for the ball.
Back yourselves.
Trust your instincts.
And remember something important…
play for your younger self.
Play for the younger version of you who simply loved football.
The version who would have dreamed of moments like this.
The little girl who just wanted to play, belong, compete, and wear a shirt with pride.
She would be unbelievably proud of you already.
So enjoy this.
Take in every moment.
Compete with confidence.
Play with freedom.
And leave that pitch knowing you gave everything for the badge and for each other.
Together.
United.
Believing.
