Stills Bicycle Repairs and maintenance.

I have recently adapted this 70s bike for the owner who’s now much happier using it for her daily transport.

I have changed the saddle and handle bars, added mudguards and a rack. While I adapted it, I also fully serviced it (new bottom bracket, new wheel bearings, headset, brake cables, etc).

It was a fun and interesting project because the owner wanted to keep the original gear lever which added complexity to the build.

I have been working restoring and adapting bikes for many years. My passion and love for bicycles started back in the early 80s when my dad gave me a bicycle that he had found at the local tip and fixed it up for me for my birthday when I was six. He taught me that any bike regardless outward appearance can be a fun and useful form of transport.

I work on all types of bicycles from modern lightweight road bikes to children’s bikes and everything in between, from basic maintenance to full restoration.

One the most enjoyable aspects of working on bicycles is creating a more usable bike from an older machine, ie setting up a more useful gearing, a better and more comfortable riding position, making the bike more usable. I love adapting an older bicycle to fit the rider better and working with the owner to achieve the best fit.

I am based in St Thomas and will collect bikes in the Exeter area
