Exercise smarter, not harder 🤓

Your health, fitness and well-being is not determined by a handful of 1hrs in the gym! It is not improved by flogging yourself harder in cardio or lifting heavier weights - it’s all in the daily detail my friends (followers) 😳

Have a read of these 5 tips and take action today! Not tomorrow, not Monday, TODAY! Health/fitness/wellbeing are lifestyles, made up of lifestyle choices - so make the choice to make it part of your daily life. Simple 👊

Throwback Thursday 😎

Back to my multi-tasking days as a musical weightlifting dude. This was one of many naughty pre-drink nights in a house share with my best mates, living my uni life after uni life 🤪

The serious notion of this post is to recognise that our lives, no matter how young or old, are a game of balance and multi-tasking. Whether it be the simple work/life or more detailed like family/relationship, travel/money, career/morals. Whatever you are balancing, sustainability is key here - is your current balance sustainable? Are you prioritising the right things? Are you making time for what you really care about - do you even know what you really care about? 🤔

Be outcome driven when it comes to what you want but process minded when it comes to enjoying the journey, because that journey could end at any time so make the most of it 👊

You are what you eat…

…so don’t be a doughnut! Cliches are cliches for a reason - because they’re normally right. “You are what you eat” is something we’ve heard in society for years but there is a genuine case for this being true, after all healthy eating is key to our well-being 🥰

We have up to 100 trillion cells in our bodies demanding a constant (daily) supply of nutrients in order to function optimally. Food directly affects all of these cells and therefore every aspect of our being - mood, energy, cravings, thinking capacity, sleeping habits and even s*x drive ❤️

If you feed your body junk food (aka s**t) all the time it’ll simply lay down fat, lower your energy and even your brain power 💔

Eating well is not just about losing weight or gaining some muscle. Eating well is also about fuelling your body to feel better, perform better and function better. It's about eating a micronutrient rich diet to support your immune system, fuel your brain and look after your body 👍

Treat your body like a vintage car, run it well, keep it well oiled and fuel it to the highest quality. Equally, don’t be afraid to balance flooring it with resting it👌

…you can’t cheat and expect it to work 💔

Balance and consistency is key to making it work, but cheating your regime by regularly missing workouts or diet by regularly justifying a takeaway will end in tears 😔

Don’t cheat on your fitness, or more importantly your health. There is literally nothing more important than your own health so take care of it as it’s the only place you have to live 👊

Stay with me 🤓

So this aims to explain how quickly your body will adapt to exercise if you’re new to it, like the first bit of toothpaste shooting out of the tube 🪥

Your body is desperate for you to make the decision to open that lid and squeeze, adding a brand new freshness to your life. It’ll be the easiest bit of toothpaste you’ll get, but as you continue to use it (exercise) you’ll need to find different angles and approaches to keep the progress going, so enjoy the first bit of the tube because that’s the easiest bit 🥳

Your mind, however, is more like clotted cream! The first bit is the hardest, the most difficult to break through - but boi once you do…oh wow let that progress flow baby 😍

The first step is the hardest one, how many times have you said “I’ll start the gym next week” or “diet starts Monday”. I’ll be honest with you, there is never the right time so don’t wait for it - start now 👊

Make a small change to your lifestyle by adding one bit of exercise to your week and be consistent with it. As it gets easier, make that exercise longer/harder. Once that becomes boring or too easy add a second bit and before you know it you’ll be hitting 2-3 bouts of exercise a week leading to a healthier and happier lifestyle 🤙
