Don’t decrease the goal.

Increase the effort ⚡️

I found this very interesting! Almost a 50:50 split, and honestly I’m not entirely sure which side I’m on.

Sometimes I think it’s a good idea to disregard how you feel and just get on with it. I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels some sort ache/pain 90% of the time and if I were to rest or ease up whenever I felt a little off, I’d probably never train again! 🙃😂

However, everybody knows their own body and if you feel you need to take your foot off the gas, it’s probably not a bad thing. Overtraining isn’t unheard of and it can make you feel very bad so make sure you pay attention to your body. A week off can do you the world of good in and out 👌🏻

I think that if you look for reasons TO train... rather than looking for reasons NOT TO, you’ll do fine 🙂

The most important thing you’ll read today 🚨

People love to jump on the “I’m not motivated” bandwagon but I think this word should be replaced with ‘discipline’. You’ll get a lot less people admitting to being undisciplined, that’s for sure.

Using the aloof term ‘motivation’ suddenly shifts the blame onto feelings/circumstances that are beyond your control so you feel less guilty and less responsible.

Are people who wake up at 4am to go out running in the rain motivated to do that... absolutely not. They’re disciplined. They know what they want long term and they’re taking that seriously 👏🏻

The truth hurts. But next time you’re questioning your ‘motivation’, you have to wonder if you really want it... And if you do, work for it.

About 3 or 4 weeks into my new and improved training / eating regime. Definitely feeling better for it 🙏🏻

Strength, power and speed is coming back.

TRAINING vs EXERCISE

These terms seem to be used interchangeably, however I feel they have very different meanings.

Exercise is not training.

Exercise is something you do to stay fit, something that has no specific goal other than to use energy and keep active. Exercise could literally be swinging your arms around in the air for 5 minutes.

Training on the other hand is physical activity where the aim is to get better at something. There is a clear precise goal in mind and everything done is intended to pursue that goal.

There’s nothing wrong with ‘exercise’ and it’s certainly better than nothing, but even the most recreational gym goers can set some little goals and adjust their workout routine to be more in line with ‘training’ 👍🏻✅

You won’t always want to train... You won’t always feel physically ready to train... You’ll ache, you’ll feel sore, you’ll get tired, bored, fed up. It’s human.

You can’t rely on what you ‘feel’ like doing. You have to rely on your own discipline. That’s the only thing that will keep you pushing through.

Make decisions with the future version of you in mind 👌🏻

Enjoy your weekend 💪🏻🙂

So looking forward to some nice summery training sessions 🙌🏻 ☀️

Wind and Rain have to be the biggest training mood killers... 😵

Question everything! It’s a great thing.

Every time you train. Every exercise/lift you do... Ask yourself “What is the goal of this?” ...What do I want to get out of it.

You flick through Instagram these days and see videos of ‘fitness people’ doing a walking lunge into bicep curl... or some ridiculous boxing drill performed while balancing on a swiss ball...

Your time is FINITE. Your energy is FINITE. So make sure you’re questioning what you’re doing, and don’t waste any valuable time/energy on things that don’t warrant it👍🏻 ✅
