Fascinating evening learning about Asian Hornets St George Village Hall

A big thank you to the Exeter Beekeepers for such a brilliant & informative session on Asian Hornets with the Devon Asian Hornet Action team.

Asian hornets are getting closer, with the nearest nest being spotted in Plymouth! These hornets pose a real threat to our precious bees and many other pollinators.

If you're interested in learning more about how to identify and tackle them, check out the BBKA website ( https://www.bbka.org.uk/listing/category/asian-hornet-vespa-velutina ) or on our website ( https://exeterbeekeepers.org.uk/ ).

Thanks also to Cathy and the entire Exeter Beekeeper team for the delicious tea and biscuits!

Dear Member, please be vigilant, an Asian hornet has been found hawking honey bees in the Plymouth area. Although this has not been officially confirmed, I am sure it will be shortly. The NBU has been informed, and the process of investigation has been started. A big thank you to the Plymouth Beekeepers who caught and reported the insect.

If you think you see this insect, please report it through the Asian Hornet Watch app if you have a smartphone or tablet or send it to [email protected]. If you are not sure, please contact your branch, and they will help to confirm identification before an official report is sent.
