What a ski career. Still time for at least one more podium though!
Dave Ryding, Britain's most successful alpine skier, announced his retirement from competitive racing today from the end of the next winter season ⛷
Ryding’s journey is one of the most inspiring in the sport — from the dry slopes of Pendle Ski Club in Lancashire to competing in four Winter Olympics and nine World Championships. His consistency, work ethic and sheer determination have helped pave the way for a new generation of British skiers🔥
When we spoke to him today, he said he still remembers his very first lesson on dry slope with a lady called Jeanette. "It was so much fun, just side-stepping up a slope and skiing straight down it. It just gave me a love for skiing...Those days were some of my fondest days skiing still because of friends, the camaraderie and racing in a fun environment.” 🎿
What advice would he give to the next generation of alpine racers? “Never think that there’s a limit. If you keep training two or three times a week, listening to your coach, you can achieve everything and anything.”💪
Thank you, Dave Ryding - Skier, for inspiring a generation of young alpine skiers and proving that you can carve out an amazing ski career from England's artificial dry slopes to the world stage 🙌
