Find me at Newtown Community Centre (Belmont Park) 11.15-12.30 on Feb 15th for a holistic class. You can expect to be supported through mindful breathing, a full body mobility practice, guided meditation drawing on compassion for ourselves and others, and a restful relaxation, before finishing with some tea and cake. The focus will be on building stability and functional movement in the body, working from the feet up. I hope that you will leave feeling calm and more connected.
Absolute beginners and seasoned yogis are all welcome 💚

As the festive season has come to a close, this can be a good time to pause and reflect, taking the opportunity to slow down. If we observe the cyclical nature of life, we may acknowledge this current fallow season as a time for wintering.
The concept of wintering is the act of stilling the mind and body, retreating from the sensory stimulation in the world. This allows us to turn inwards, rest, and reflect so that we may return with greater calm and clarity. Accepting these natural periods of quiet demonstrates a form of calm resilience.
I will be starting my new year of classes with a restorative session to ease into 2026.
What is restorative yoga?
It is a slower-paced practice whereby yoga poses are held for longer to allow for deep relaxation and comfort. This is to encourage you to slow down, turn inwards and still the mind. There is time to soften and let go, allowing tension to release without pushing or forcing the body. There is greater emphasis on the exhale when breathing to encourage you to soften and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. This allows you to come into a 'rest and digest' state so that the body can access its capacity to heal and reduce stress.
Restorative yoga benefits✨️
🪷Deeply relaxes the body
🪷Stills a busy mind
🪷Releases muscular tension
🪷Improves flexibility and mobility
🪷Improves capacity for healing and balancing
🪷Balances the nervous system, stimulating the body's 'rest and digest' function
