Having to start wearing gloves in the gym 😭
I don’t even like wearing shoes when I train, let alone gloves 😖
But doctor’s orders, should hopefully keep the carpal tunnel from coming back. Because if it does, I’m gonna need yet more surgery, and it’ll be a long recovery 😬
My precious calluses 😭
First time I’ve ever had the mobility in my toes or the strength in my knees to be able to do these ☺️
Still got a long road ahead, but feel like this is a really big milestone 🙂
Morning home workout with and 🥳
Hard at work this morning with 😃 After an unexpected finger injury, we’re having to improvise a little - fortunately I practically have a PhD in training around injuries at this point (disclaimer: my own, due to a lot of genetic issues and also competing in combat sports whilst weighing more than 100kg 😄)
Rather than risk any pressure on the hand with barbell squat variants, we used the hack squat machine, with a variant my old friend showed me many years ago. It’s a variant he preferred for rugby training, and I adopted it for grappling - I find the angle lends itself better to tackling people, and also closer resembles a freeweight squat than the regular hack squat (which has less hip hinge).
Both versions are legit, I just like this one more, and Sarah certainly smashed it, as always 😃
Well done Sarah, great effort 👊
Finally back to hitting the bag. Slower and rustier than a…slow rusty thing, I don’t know. A door? Whatever. Anyway. Feels good to be moving ☺️
Been loving these lately - cable-loaded cursty lunges. They’re not massively loading and burning out your big leg muscles like heavy squats etc, but it’s not all about that - I use these to build stability and anti-rotational strength in my knees and spine, and mobility in my hips and toes, which are just as valuable as raw strength and power. All about protecting those joints 👊
(Yes, I know I’m still recovering from a massive knee injury, but explosively putting 200kg through a joint that’s missing a ligament and was already fatigued from fighting all day was never likely to end well, and I still maintain exercises like this meant I was able to compete for many more years than I otherwise would have 😌)
Thank you for the inspiration on loading it with a cable rather than a free weight, as that puts the resistance horizontally rather than vertically, which is the goal of the exercise in this instance.
Strength and mobility are pretty decent in the leg now, but the elasticity needs work.
Started doing assisted hops a few weeks ago, now managing unassisted.
Got a long way to go (you can see the difference between the two sides), but glad to be making progress ☺️
