Samurai Fitness is a Jiu Jitsu Club based in North Somerset — offering high quality instruction in a supportive, community-driven environment.

At Samurai Fitness, we teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) — a martial art focused on leverage, control, and submissions.

Whether you’re training for self-defense, competition, or fitness, our classes are tailored to your goals in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.

All levels are welcome - from complete beginners to seasoned athletes.

Founded by a former Royal Marine Commando with 24 years service, our lead coach brings decades of combat sports training & martial arts experience to the mats.

A Brown Belt under the Chamberlain Brothers at the Roger Gracie Academy Bristol, he remains a member of their Coaching Team.

His passion for the sport has led him to train all over the globe, including the United States, Thailand, and most recently Brazil.

As a qualified PT, Fitness Instructor, Coach & Mentor, he brings a unique blend of physical conditioning, technical skill, and mindset coaching to every class.

We’re more than just a club - we’re building a local community of like-minded people committed to learning & training the ‘Gentle Art’ of Jiu Jitsu.

As many of you know, a legend in the UK BJJ community and beyond, is currently facing terminal bowel cancer. Oli has dedicated his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—not just through his accomplishments on the mats, but through his coaching, support of others, and tireless commitment to growing the sport across the UK and internationally.

In recognition of everything Oli has done and is still going through, we’re inviting everyone in the BJJ community to add a blue stripe or tag to your belt—an acknowledgement ,symbol of support, respect, and unity.

We are very excited to announce that Alan “Finfou” Nascimento is coming over from Stockholm/Sweden for a gi and no gi seminar on 13th and 14th of January.

Finfou grew up in Cantagalo favela in Rio. He will share a little bit of his remarkable story of how he has beaten the odds to become one of the most influential BJJ champions of his generation and a top coach.

The seminar will be open to all BJJ academies across the UK, Europe and London. Visitors & students from other academies are very welcome to join us!

We are expecting a lot of interest and might need to limit numbers so please message us to book your place.

Gi on 13th and NoGi on 14th. -

FUKUBUKURO / LUCKY BAG: A JAPANESE NEW YEAR’S TRADITION.

It’s that time of year again! Time for literally the best sale in jiujitsu. Every year, without fail, we smash out our Lucky Bags on New Years Day. The internet tubes are primed, the server computers have been vacuumed, and the shipping bags have been ironed.

The styles available are:

KIMONO – contains a Scramble jiujitsu gi, and item of rashwear such as rashguard or spats, plus surprise items

NO GI – contains three items of rashwear (could be shorts, spats, rashguard, vale tudos, etc) plus surprise items

STREET – contains either 3 t-shirts plus free gifts, or a hoody / joggers / jacket / shorts plus a t-shirt and free surprise items.

A huge congratulations to the man the myth the legend that is - well deserved!
