🌾 Late Summer | Descending Yin | Returning to Centre 🌾
First of all, I’m sorry that our Beach Yoga & Wild Swim Coldingham Brave Bayers had to be cancelled this evening. 💛
Unfortunately, the northerly winds and red flag for swimming at the beach meant that getting into the sea would have been unsafe, and with those winds, our yoga practice would have been pretty chilly too! 🥶🧘
Sometimes the most nourishing thing we can do is listen to nature, respect its boundaries and slow down.
So, instead, here’s a little Late Summer practice to take with you…
Late summer invites us to naturally slow down, soften and descend, moving from the outward, go go go, energy of summer towards a quieter, more grounded place.
It’s a season of nourishment, support and transition. A time to pause and ask yourself:
✨ Are your foods nourishing you?
✨ Are your thoughts supportive?
✨ Are your relationships helping you feel grounded and held?
Nourishment isn’t just about what we eat. It’s about how we care for ourselves on every level — physically, mentally and emotionally.
Do something for yourself every day. 💛
Maybe it’s 10 minutes with your morning cuppa and a book, booking a massage, taking a quiet walk, or simply allowing yourself an afternoon nap. 💤
And connect with the earth. 🌍
Lie down on the ground and feel yourself being supported, or take a slow walk barefoot on the grass or sand.
Movement can be gentle and grounding too. Try a full body shimmy & shake or some simple tapping down the arms, legs and torso, front and back, to awaken and stimulate the body's meridian pathways.
🌻 Late Summer | Earth Element
🌻 Colour | Yellow
🌻 Organs | Stomach & Spleen
🌻 Meridians | Up and down the front of the body
🌻 TCM systems | Digestive, immune & lymphatic
This is a time to strengthen yourself from the inside out. Returning to your centre, gathering your energy, finding stability and creating a sense of support within.
As nature begins its gentle transition, perhaps we can too.
Slow down. Nourish. Ground. Return to centre. 🌾💛
