I combine my swim coaching with being a qualified land based gym instructor, personal trainer and yin yoga instructor. I’m also a trained mentor, coach and facilitator. Gemma
I'm a lifelong lover of all things swimming. I used to club swim at an early age and although never the most competitive, it gave me the swimming bug which has never left! I have run a swim school for the last 10 years, where we teach all ages to swim and become confident and competent in the water. I spend all year in the sea – utilising the water for both fitness and mental health and well-being benefits. Before each coaching session we’ll agree what the focus and objective is for that particular session. We’ll agree the plan of what we’ll do and adapt during the session as things evolve. We expect you to turn up ready for the session – mentally and physically - and to be honest and open with us if there are any issues that may impact on your coaching session. In return, we will always have planned in advance for our session and have a suggested programme in place to propose to you for what we’ll do to support you achieving your goals. We’ll discuss the plan and adapt it as appropriate based on conditions, how you’re feeling etc. During the session we will support you to get the best out of the session. The focus is on you and we will ask lots of questions to support you learn from experience – you own this journey and the outcomes! Ruth and Gemma are both qualifed STA Open Water Coaches

Thank you for all the support over the last couple of years.

We are still swimming buddies and both passionate about our involvement with the wonderful local swimming community, but due to our other work and commitments, Open Aqua Outdoor Swim Coaching will cease ‘trading’ as of now, but if you want to get hold of Ruth to book some OW swim coaching with her please do so at Kernow Evolve ❤️

Worth a read….. sage advice from the very experienced and knowledgeable Norma Immerse Hebrides
We were shocked to hear of the casualty but delighted to understand they have recovered well.
Please take care out there as the water and air temperature drops.
We’re here to offer advice and support too. With years of swimming in all seasons between us - drop us a line or chat to us on the beach. The only silly question is the one not asked!!!

Some days are for rushing about, others are for finding a group of like minded folk and going for an explore.
Our guided swim session today took in the submerged world between Gylly and Castle beach - with several starfish, crabs and shoals of fish - along with the friendly seal who was chillin’ too floating on their back, enjoying a moment!

What: Supported group front crawl swim
When : Sat 27th August
Where: Falmouth Bay (Gylly or Swanpool)

If you wanting to have a distance swim with safety/water cover and a group of like-minded individuals, this is for you. 😊

We aim to be in the water for around 45 minutes where we match swimmers up speed and ability wise to have a decent swim with a bit of technique work thrown in.
£5 per person.
