Victory on the road!
Falmouth took on a resurgent Bristol Camanachd today in what was certain to be a true clash of the titans. Bristol opened strongly, giving Falmouth backs Russell and F**t a serious workout in the first ten minutes, but keen defending and a great display from returning keeper Jakob Holland kept the scoresheet empty. Rotating in loanee Mossop, Falmouth began to make progress up the field, and found the net near the end of the first half after full forward Wayland Drury managed to battle the Bristol full back and send the ball to Alex Amos to put the visitors ahead. The Pirates responded strongly and a quick move from their forwards levelled the score just before the half time whistle.
Returning to the pitch reinvigorated, the teams battled neck and neck, but it was a final effort from Mossop that sealed the win for Falmouth. All eyes now turn to the South West League Finals on the 2nd March, when Falmouth will seek to lift the trophy for the first time in the team's history. Marmaladum et Mortum!

Last Sunday's match saw a brilliant return to form for Falmouth, as we sought to further our lead in a hotly anticipated match against CSM Shinty Club Gold.
After a tense start, Amos opened the scoring with a smooth effort past the Miner's keeper. Encouraged, the locals took to the attack with renewed vigour, and there was little to be done to stop a a brilliant shot from half forward Elen Peel Finding the net. In spite of some fantastic clearances by Gold back Matt Ferguson, the goals came thick and fast for Falmouth, with four more following for top scorer Amos, and Captain Jack F**t, in a rare foray into the forwards notching up his first of the season. This coming weekend sees the team travel to Bristol in their final match before the finals. Marmaladum et Mortum!

Looking to cement their place at the top of the league, Falmouth took to the field on Sunday to take on CSM Blue. With Elen Peel out for illness, Drury hampered by flu, and missing regular No1 Holland to a work trip abroad, the team set out with regular centre/half forward Wayland Drury battling off his illness to fill in in nets, and debuting player T. Carr making his first appearance at half forward. The shots flew thick and fast from a dominant Falmouth side, but a strong performance from Blues keeper Tija stopped several early efforts, and a couple of unfortunately missed penalties infuriated the boys and girls in orange and black. Amos inevitably found his way onto the scoreboard later in the first half however. Returning from the break, a low effort trickled past the Falmouth defence to make the score 1 all, in a wake up call to the team. However, a second goal from Amos, and a first competitive goal for stalwart Half Back Ed Russell saw the league leaders defend their spot successfully. All eyes now look to the coming weekend, where CSM Gold will attempt to hold back the orange and black tide once more! Marmaladum et Mortem!

Falmouth Camanachd returned to action today at the Dracaena Centre. Looking to get back to winning form after a pre-christmas draw against CSM Shinty Club Gold, the team headed to the pitch to take on Mabe Shinty Club. A cagey start to the match, as an effort from Mabe's Libby Walters went wide, and stellar defending from the Mabe backs denied Falmouth's early chances. At 15 minutes in however, Falmouth broke the deadlock as an excellent cross from Alex Amos found Full Forward Megan Davis, who sent the ball into the top corner to give Falmouth the lead. Feeling encouraged, Falmouth pressed the advantage, and shortly after a low effort from Alex Amos doubled the lead. The second half saw a long distance effort from Mabe's Mark Kelly go high, and despite the several chances, Falmouth couldn't find the net for a 3rd, and the game concluded Mabe 0, Falmouth 2.

Another smashing day at Dracaena, as a brace from Amos and a cracking strike from first time goalscorer Davis saw Falmouth quieten the students and take home the points, cementing the top spot in the league!
