Sensitive marine habitats of Seagrass and
Maerl have been marked using Gylly's infamous yellow buoys by Falmouth Harbour with the Ocean Conservation Trust and their main partners Plymouth Gin.
These Buoys mark the 4-knot speed limit for the Bay and this year they also carry an important message too.
"Seagrass and Maerl provide valuable services to coastal communities.
They absorb carbon from the atmosphere and lock it away in the sediments helping with climate change and at the same time release oxygen.
They also provide important habitats for lots of commercial and rare species of fish and shellfish. Seagrass also creates a network of roots that help to stabilise the sand and shore whilst the fronds dampen the effects of storms" say Falmouth Harbour.
Both Seagrass and Maerl are sensitive to the physical impacts caused by anchoring and mooring; although there are no rules on anchoring within the bay or any No Anchor Zones, the Buoys are hoping to highlight where these areas of marine habitats are and provide water users with more information as to how to protect the longevity of this environment.

wesup X RNLI - The Great Big Paddle Parade!
We want you to join us on the water on 03 September in Torbay as we attempt a world record of the largest number of Stand Up Paddleboarders together at once!
wesup has teamed up with the RNLI to host an epic World Record Charity Fundraiser as part of their National Water Safety Campaign. The ambition is to have 1000 paddle boarders taking part in the largest guided coastal tour in the world to raise critical awareness of SUP safety, to raise vital funds for the RNLITorbay Lifeboats and to inspire a generation of people to safely connect to their coastal environment.
This event will also be the largest ocean cleanup event by SUP. We’ve teamed up with Planet Patrol to collect all ocean litter on route and hand it over at the destination for the team to collect, sort and recycle, making this a huge win for the environment!
Tickets are just £15 from any location and 100% of profits will be donated to RNLI.
Click the link below to sign up and see the locations and distances you need to paddle.
Share this across your community groups and lets go paddling together!

We are very excited to welcome the GBSUP National Series to our corner of paradise on Gylly Beach in July!
Clear your calendars as this will an event you do not want to miss!
Since the unfortunate news that this year's Celtic Cup will not go ahead, we have been working hard to find a replacement event in Cornwall.
We can now officially announce that we have managed to do this with a replacement event being held on July 9th off the stunning Gylly beach in Falmouth.
Our outline plans are to run Technical and Distance races for SUP, Prone, NISCO & the Challenge Tour. For the Juniors, we will have clinics and racing as well.
This new event will also be the Team England qualifiers for the ISA Worlds as previously planned for this weekend.
Full event details to follow shortly.
It's set to be an exciting and action-filled day and one not to be missed.
