We are a club that allows everyone from seven to seventy-seven to get involved in surf life saving,

Through training with the club, you will learn how to save lives in the sea. We will teach you the skills needed to qualify as a NaRS Beach Lifeguard. From CPR and resuscitation, to board paddling, signals and rescue techniques. Once qualified, there is an opportunity to volunteer on local beaches in the summer seasons with the RNLI Lifeguard service.

This week, Gylly clubbies helped out as casualties for a joint emergency services training exercise.

Professionals and volunteers from the RNLI, HM Coastguard, West Cornwall Search and Rescue, and NHS Community First Responders joined forces in a scenario involving the ‘rescue’ of 16 casualties from a building.

It was a great opportunity to meet these dedicated, skilled, and knowledgeable teams, and to gain an insight into what it takes to work together as part of a multi-agency emergency response.

A big thank you to Matt Stone from West Cornwall Search & Rescue Team for inviting us, and to Pendennis Community Centre for the use of the old swimming pool.

Some of our top performance athletes travelled to Porthcawl last weekend to compete in the Super 6 Series. Challenging conditions made for an exciting day. Many congratulations to Ezekiel on an incredible win in the men’s board race, and to Thomas for his third place.

Well done to Lilian, Mia, Anders and Harry for a great set of results.

Gylly Twilight 2026 🥳👏🤣🥶

The cold, windy weather certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the Gylly Twilight! Lifesavers from across the region came down and threw themselves into the madness, mixing and matching into Taplin teams, with no fewer than eight six-person teams taking to the water.

It was brilliant to welcome friends from across Cornwall for an evening full of racing, laughs, and complete chaos. Thanks to everyone who came along - hope you have warmed up now.

The evening couldn’t have happened without lifesaving legend Matt S keeping everybody safe on the water, and Surf Life Saving Cornwall’s Peter H on the beach - thank you so much.

Great support from the on water cover - thanks all.

Thanks for coming Hayle Surf Life Saving Club Crantock Surf Life Saving Club, Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club L***y SLSC Newquay Surf Life Saving Club Portreath Surf Life Saving Club and see you next year. 🙂

Over 400 people competed in the annual Castle to Castle one mile swim today. Together they will have raised an anticipated £100,000 for the RNLI. The event would not have been possible without the water safety cover - tremendous thanks to the 18 Gylly members who joined the RNLI lifeguards to es**rt the swimmers across the mouth of Falmouth Harbour.

The swim is not a race - so inspirational to see participants of all ages including in their 80's - with safety cover accompanying and encouraging those for who the event was a real challenge.

Marley & Maggie will be on the beach sessions for the summer and can help encourage younger nippers if needed . They have gained many points and medals for Gylly team and we are super grateful to them. We wish them all the best going forward into youth and look forward to seeing their progress.
