Rural Running Events
Rural Running was set up in 2015 to organise running events in and around Fareham, Hampshire. Our chosen charity for 2017 is The Rowans Hospice.
Rural Running is a local company, organising running events in the Fareham area. During 2016 we were able to donate nearly £2000 to Guide Dogs as part of a 'Name a Puppy' scheme. We have a number of events organised which will hopefully enable us to donate even more to them as well as meet our Name a Puppy fundraising target.
If you want to run 12 miles, as a team of up to 6 (2 miles each), we have a 12 Miles of Christmas Run tomorrow at Portchester Castle. This is a 'turn up and go' event, so you can come along any time between 8am and 1pm, and you can enter on the day.
The start point is in the main car park at the castle, at the end of Castle Street.

Only 40 places remaining in the 2020 Remembrance Run.
Take part in the event on the 7th November, or run the race as a virtual.
The medal this this year is amazing!
Remembrance Run - Rural Running Events Run on closed roads, through country lanes and along part of the top of Portsdown Hill, the race will feature chip timing.
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our races COVID safe, while advancing what we offer you, we are pleased to soon be able to offer on course self timing.
We are working with webscorer on a system that will allow you to scan a QR code at various timing points. The time of these scans will automatically be recorded against your name, and added to the results.
You will be able to record your time for each mile/km.
We will be trialling this innovation at the forthcoming Remembrance Run.

There is only one way to run an event at the moment!
The Rural Running way! All day events, turn up and go! No mass start, medals in the post! no water stations!
ALL the mass start events are falling by the wayside!! Why are the BIG event organisers not cancelling sooner!
With the recent news that Fareham Borough Council's court hearing to gain an eviction order on the Travellers at Wicor Rec will not be heard until the 18th August, we cannot guarantee the health and safety of anyone running there on the 23rd.
We have therefore made the decision to postpone the 'Jog for a Dog run we had planned.
I would think that FBC would be seeking the advice of Public Health England, following reports of Human Excrement on the rec, and possibly closing the space to the public. The whole site should be treated as a Hazardous Area.
