Portchester Panthers begin their indoor training sessions this evening so what better time to look back to the brilliant day that Barton Tillotson Lucy, Heather Kelly and Women’s Captain spent Utilita Bowl representing Portchester CC for a Networking Event for Women’s and Girls cricket. It took place on Saturday 19th September alongside the Metro Bank Women’s Cup Final. Quite fitting that it was Hampshire Women v The Blaze but was a shame Hampshire didn’t get the win!
Not only did we watch some great cricket but we mingled with other attendees, seeing some familiar faces from teams we’ve met along the way whilst meeting new people and talking about our experiences in the women’s game. We took part in group discussions and interactive sessions, focusing on the development of women’s and girls cricket. One of the events was hosted by Take Her Lead, founded by Isa Guha ex-England cricketer, turned presenter. It was great to hear from other clubs, to realise we face similar challenges and discuss how we can change and improve our presence in our Clubs.
We were incredibly fortunate to be joined by current England cricketer, Sarah Glenn for a special Q&A session during the event! She was very down-to-earth and clearly champions the women’s game 💪
It was a brilliant day of conversation, learning and feedback which will hopefully go a long way towards helping the women’s game in the future 🏏 Hampshire Cricket Board Hampshire Cricket
