South Hants Volleyball Club

Selected squads from South East England U15 / U17 girls participated last week in a Youth International Volleyball Tournament in Kalmthout, Belgium, in preparation to the Inter-Regionals finals in Loughborough on 23/24th May.

South Hants featured highly, with Isobel, Klara and Sofiia (U15), and Marta, Maya, Heidi and Noemi (U17), and a few local coaches 💪👏

Teams from Belgium 🇧🇪, Germany 🇩🇪, The Netherlands 🇳🇱, France 🇫🇷, Luxembourg 🇱🇺 and England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 all met up for the event, involving over 50 teams and 500 players. Some great Volleyball on show, and a top learning experience for all.

The competition was tough, with low level of serve errors, discipline and good levels of skills being a key difference! Some top team on show also from Holland, Belgium and Germany, where height, technique, speed, defence, long rallies and quick combinations was all on show! 🎉🏐

Good luck to all for the IRC finals, where more South Hants players will also feature (Ayva, Ben, Tom, Harry and Henry) 👏

South Hants Juniors Ranking High in National Rankings 💪

This year saw South Hants enter teams into U18/U16/U15 National Junior competitions (Boys and girls). A first for the club 🏐

Well done to all that took part (players, coaches and parents), with most teams in the Top 13 nationally 💙

Last game was the pinnacle Vs Urbond ladiea, who had drafted very strong international players from Portsmouth Uni - top encounter, with a narrow loss, but this was the best I've seen this squad play... Fast and Furious, powerful and skilful! Well done girls 👏

U16 Boys takes 2nd place in Silver pool 💪

Invited to play up in the Silver pool, our boys showed grit and composure to win their group and nail-biting semi-finals in 3 sets.

Experience showed for Richmond in the finals.🏐

South Hants well represented at NEVZA with three alumni in the current England U17 setup.

There have been some changes to the South Hants Volleyball Club over the last few years, with the National League teams disbanding. However the Juniors section (ages 10-17) and Sitting volleyball section (ages 14+) have gone from strength to strength, competing in many local, regional and national competitions. The Juniors section competes in U14, U15, U16 and U17 age categories to give them as much competition as possible.

Juniors training is at Horndean Technology College and Cams Hill School in Fareham. Although we don't offer adult training sessions, we do enter teams into local and regional adult competitions, comprising a mixture of coaches, past club members and the older juniors.
