Just wanted to give everyone an update
So around 7:30pm yesterday, we discovered that the milage left was physically impossible with the average speed my body was able to hold
We fought so hard for so long to compete against the heat that was dropped on us the eve before the record. But we adapted and did the best we could to try to make it possible
Unfortunately, my body was not ready nor prepared to cope with 30-34 degree heat back to back along with the humidity. But I didn't give up and held in there until it was evident it wasn't going to happen.
This is not a failure and is just a learning curve. We will take the lessons that have been learnt during this attempt to build a strong, r more resilient plan for our next attempt! 💪
Want to say a massive thank you for the support over social media it really helped!
And a major thank you to the support crew who without them none of this would have been possible 🙏

With our recent heat wave I've been trying to resist the urge to use my air-con and fan during training sessions
This isn't jist for mental resilience but for a number of factors
One being that during the world record in August there is a very good chance we will be experiencing the same temperatures, being able to cope with this now will really help during the later stages.
Secondly when you expose yourself to heat during your session or evening saunas for long periods of time, your body's hemoglobin count rises and the amount of salt you loose in your sweat decreases. In short you become a more efficient sweater.
Thirdly, it's very difficult to do which builds a lot of character which although this is last on the list this could be seen as the most important thing

House move means new pain room.
Starting with the set up but it's frustrating to have no service to record any training.

After a long wait I've finally managed to get my new cranks on my bike. After a bike fit with we found that a 155mm crank was optimal to have full control through the pedal stroke.
The difference is immense, the efficiency has improved so much my heart rate has dropped for the same output.
Just need to get through this adaptation period as now I'm activating my hamstrings and glutes more as before I was predominantly quad heavy

Cycling in the moonlight
Night time cycling is a totally different game.
Got to keep practicing to get used to reading the roads differently, even more testing when you're on unknown routes

Been working at finding this again. Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped in the goals and forget to smile in the journey. Now I'm back in game mode and ready to reshare this journey with you.

It amazing how different you can feel from one day to the next!
Yesterday I was incredibly down and depressed, concerned with my recent performances on the bike compared to before I had covid.
Although I'm just starting another 3 hr tempo session, my confidence is through the roof and I can't wait to get stuck back into training. So when you feeling down remember it won't last long, instead of wishing it away trying to understand it and understand why your feeling that way.
It will help it pass quicker the next time around 😊
