It is with great sadness that we share the loss of two very special members of our Larkspur family, Stan and Fudge.

Both Stan and Fudge lived long, happy lives and brought joy to so many people over the years. At 32 years old, they enjoyed a wonderful retirement in their later years, surrounded by care, comfort, and plenty of love.

Making the decision to say goodbye is never easy, but it was the kindest choice for them. We are grateful for all the memories they gave us and for the countless riders, staff, and friends whose lives they touched.

They will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by everyone who knew them.

If you have a favourite memory, story, or photograph of Stan or Fudge, we would love for you to share it in the comments. It would mean so much to their Larkspur family and help us celebrate the wonderful lives they lived.

Run free, Stan and Fudge. 🌈🐴

Forever in our hearts ❤️‍🩹🪽🌈

☀️ HOT WEATHER UPDATE ☀️

Well, this is a post you were all (hopefully!) expecting, knowing that the horses always come first at Larkspur. 🐴❤️

With the temperatures forecast to climb over the coming days, we will be significantly scaling back ridden activities where necessary and carefully monitoring what can and can’t safely go ahead.

We will review conditions daily and contact anyone affected by changes, so please keep an eye on your emails and our social media channels for updates.

To help keep everyone involved, we are putting together some alternative Pony Pamper Sessions. These will be hands-on practical sessions around the yard, including grooming, bathing ponies, learning about horse care and experiencing day-to-day yard life. Perfect for anyone wanting some pony time without riding. 🧽🪣✨

In preparation for the heatwave, Alison selflessly volunteered to investigate whether hacking to the pub could be considered a suitable welfare-friendly activity in the shade. After four hours of extensive research at The Windmill, she eventually staggered back to the yard with an entirely inconclusive answer. 🍻🤷‍♀️

So… watch this space.

If you have any questions, concerns, or top cooling tips, please don’t hesitate to get in touch:

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and don’t forget the sun cream! ☀️💧

Meet the new guy on the yard… 🐴

As always, when we have a horse on trial, they get a temporary nickname while they’re settling in.

So when this handsome lad arrived a couple of weeks ago, somebody on the yard (no names mentioned… 👀) looked at him and announced:

“He looks like a Jeff.”

And just like that, he became Jeff.

Fast forward two weeks and Jeff has officially passed his assessment, completed quarantine, charmed the team, and secured himself a full-time position at Larkspur. ✅

The only problem was that “Jeff” didn’t quite seem grand enough for such a distinguished gentleman…

So everyone, please say hello to…

✨ GEOFFREY ✨

Geoffrey is our new 16.1hh Irish Sports Horse and over the coming weeks he’ll slowly start making appearances in selected lessons as he settles into riding school life.

We’re all a little bit smitten already… although we’re still not entirely convinced he doesn’t secretly answer to Jeff. 🤣❤️

Welcome to Team Larkspur, Geoffrey!

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” 🤍🌈

Every single day we are busy creating memories, laughter and magical moments here at Larkspur Equestrian. But whilst we look forward, we’ll never forget the horses and ponies who helped shape our journey along the way.

The quiet confidence builders, the cheeky characters, the gentle souls and the once-in-a-lifetime friends who carried so many of us through memories we still hold close today.

From beloved ponies to our loyal yard dogs, each one left pawprints and hoofprints on our hearts forever. 🐴🐾✨

They may no longer be with us, but they will always remain part of our Larkspur family.

We would love you to share your favourite photos, stories and memories of our special Larkspur family members you remember from over the years. Let’s celebrate the animals who made Larkspur what it is today. 🤍

Because some souls are simply never forgotten. ❤️‍🩹

🥵 Closure Notice (for today!) 🌞

Again, due to the heat and in the interest of horse welfare, we will be shutting early today.

Unfortunately, some lessons have had to be cancelled and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. A token/credit has been issued to affected accounts.

We will keep clients updated regarding tomorrow’s lessons, however we won’t know until the horses tell us it’s too hot!

Thank you for your understanding and support — horse (and staff of course) welfare always comes first. ❤️🫶
