We are based on the eastern side of the New Forest in Hampshire near to Fawley Refinery.

Formed in 1937, Fawley Cricket Club is a community based club with 3 Men’s Teams, a Women’s side and a thriving Junior Academy for children from age 5 through to 15.

Women’s 🏏 Festival at Wellow & Plaitford Cricket Club: Fawley runners up! 🥈

Our women’s team had a great day at Wellow yesterday competing in a 🏏 festival tournament.

First up in group B vs Paultons some fantastic batting by Cheryl, Dawn and sharp catches in the field hy Hannah helped us to our first win of the day by 12 runs.

In our 2nd match an excellent bowling and fielding display limited Cadnam to just 235 from their 12 overs. Cheryl and Jess both on hatrick balls and others chipping in with wickets. We went on to get 280 in our innings for a convincing win.

That meant we won group B and went into the final against Group A winners Wellow. We fielded well with Rachel taking a wicket, the hosts going on to post 246. We were chasing the game a little and needed 26 off the last 2 overs, and fell agonisingly short to lose by just 2 runs to come in 2nd place. Still a good result and more signs of the great progress our women’s team continue to make.

MD17 TEAM NEWS 🗞️

1s 🚗 Sway Cricket Club
2s 🏡 Hythe & Dibden Cricket Club
3s 🏖️ (yet again)

Really into the business end now as we head into the penultimate round of fixtures 🫣

The 1s couldn’t break the Parley curse last week but they are back in action across the forest to face Sway tomorrow. A win would go a long way towards confirming their status in SPL2 next year, but in a year where everyone is beating each other, nothing is certain. Buoyed by the return of Captain Earl in the only change for the Oilers 🏏

The 2s made the very long and diverted journey to Bournemouth last week and were well beaten, but the situation for the 2s is very simple, win the last 2 and they’ll stay up. What better fixture to bounce back to than a local derby at home against Hythe. Reinforcements in the availability column sees the return of Gregory, Merritt, Pinto and Leach for the crunch match up 🤝

The 3s have turned into a social side rather than a cricket team in recent weeks, as the opposition have conceded for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.

Just the 2 teams take to the field today after the 3rds oppo cancelled, we see Freeman take the armband as Captain Earl is sunning it up in Greece 🇬🇷 Can the 1s finally beat Parley?

The 2s make the long trip to Bournemouth to play table toppers Suttoners, if they can avoid the forest fires en route!

WEEK 15 RE-CAP

The 1st team made it three wins in a row with an impressive win at New Milton Cricket Club last Saturday. Captain Callum Earl and Raminder Singh both made 50s as the hosts bowled us out for 214. A strong bowling performance with wickets shared amongst 6 players restricted New Milton to 170 for a win by 44 runs that puts further daylight between ourselves and the bottom two.

The 2nd XI got back to winning ways beating Sway Cricket Club by 5 wickets, Wayne Smith and Luke Perry amongst the wickets.

A very young and inexperienced 3rd team fell to defeat at home to Langley Manor Cricket , but stand-in captain Paul Hickman did make 53.

The 1s off the back of any excellent win last weekend against Sparsholt are well in the fight to beat the drop. They will look to go again this weekend against a strong New Milton side, 1 change with Gurrey out and Pinto in.

The 2s and 3s both suffered extremely close losses last weekend and the big games keep coming, especially for the 2s as they host Sway at the Sienna in desperate need of a win. The 3s host Langley Manor and a win for them still keeps them in with an outside chance of the promotion places.

All to play for tomorrow and the rest of August.

WEEK 14: MEN’s WEEKEND RECAP

It was a Saturday full of drama as all three of our teams were involved in nail biters that went right to the wire.

The 2s and 3s were on the wrong side of two very close matches, the 2s losing by 2 wickets at Winton Cricket Club and 3s by just 1 run at Totton and Eling Cricket Club.

At the Sienna, Official Sparsholt CC set the 1st team a target of 209 in another crucial battle at the bottom of the Southern Premier Cricket League Division 2 table.

The visitors reduced us to 178/8, leaving us still 31 runs short of victory with just 2 wickets in hand, but a brilliant knock from Lloyd Coxall got us over the line to secure another vital win that sees us pull away from the bottom 2. It’s back to back victories now for the 1st team and 3 wins in the last 4, a brilliant turnaround after a very difficult run in the middle part of the season. Still work to do as we seek to retain our Division 2 status, but we find ourselves in a much better position than we did a month ago.

2 wins from 3 last weekend as the 1s made the long trip to Liphook well worth it winning by 200 runs, the 3s once again secure long term bragging rights over Hythe and the 2s fell short against Winton, but they have a chance to put it right tomorrow 🤞

WEEK 13: MEN’S WEEKEND RECAP

Two big wins for the 1st and 3rd teams at the weekend 🥳

The first came at Liphook & Ripsley Cricket Club in a crucial relegation battle where the 1s batted first and put on a very healthy 291 as the top order came good with four 50s. Scoreboard pressure told as we then bowled our hosts out for 82 to secure a victory by 209 runs, maximum bowling and batting points secured and enough to take us out of the bottom 2.

It was a local derby for the 3s who came out on top against Hythe & Dibden Cricket Club. A century from the captain set the lads up nicely for a 43 run victory.

Not such good news for the 2s who fell to defeat at home to Winton Cricket Club, bowled out for 101 chasing 236 to win. So the wait for the elusive 3 out 3 W’s goes on, but overall still a very good weekend!
