💙💛 WE CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND! 💛💙

It’s nearly time to welcome Joe Roebuck and Amy Smith from back to Fleetwood Mako’s for their fourth year in a row — and we’re really looking forward to it!

We’ve already shared how excited we are to have them back, but with the weekend almost here, it’s worth saying again just what a fantastic opportunity this is for our athletes.

To be able to give our swimmers access to Olympian-led coaching, completely free of charge, is something we’re incredibly proud of. These are the kind of opportunities that can really inspire young athletes, build confidence and create memories that stay with them long after the session is over.

A huge thank you as well to Health & Fitness Centre for supporting the event and accommodating the pool time we needed. Their support has helped make this weekend possible and we really appreciate it.

We can’t wait to see the pool buzzing, our swimmers getting stuck in and Joe and Amy back with the Mako’s once again.

Today we’re joining in with National Fitness Day 2026 and celebrating this year’s theme — Powered by You. 💪

At Fleetwood Mako’s, fitness is built both in and out of the pool. Every length swum, every set completed and every land training session helps our athletes become stronger, fitter and more confident.

A Fantastic Micro League Season for Fleetwood Makos!

The final Micro League results are in, and there is plenty to celebrate across the Fleetwood Makos team.

Fleetwood finished 3rd overall in Division C with 671 points, with our boys finishing 3rd overall and our girls 4th overall. Our 9-year-old team finished 1st in their age-group table, while our 12-year-old boys also finished 1st in their table.

We also had a brilliant number of swimmers finish inside the official Top 10 individual performance rankings for their age groups:

* Age 9: Everlea 1st, Alexa 4th, Asa 8th.
* Age 10: Lucas 4th, Fox 5th, Lola 4th.
* Age 11: Clayton 3rd, Henry 6th, Tula 2nd.
* Age 12: Alfie 2nd.

A special mention to Everlea, who topped the Age 9 Girls rankings with a perfect 48 points from six swims.

These rankings cover individual events only and exclude swim-ups, so they are just one part of what was a brilliant team effort across the season.

Congratulations to every swimmer who represented Fleetwood Makos this year, whether racing individual events, relays, swimming up an age group, or competing in Micro League for the first time. You all played your part.

A huge thank you as well to the Micro League organisers, officials, volunteers, coaches, team managers, parents and families who make these events possible.

Well done, Makos — a season to be proud of!

🦈💙💛 A FANTASTIC START TO THE SEASON FOR THE MAKOS! 💛💙🦈

A huge well done to all our swimmers who competed at the Wigan & Tyldesley Season Starter Meet this weekend!

The meet was a brilliant opportunity to set that first benchmark for the new season, see where everyone is starting from and give our swimmers something to build on over the months ahead.

And what a way to get started:

🏅 43 Personal Bests
🥇 3 Gold medals
🥈 7 Silver medals
🥉 4 Bronze medals

Some fantastic racing, plenty of progress and a really positive first marker for the season ahead. Now it’s all about building on that, chasing the next PB and seeing just how far the hard work can take us.

A big thank you to Wigan Swimming Club - Wasps & Tyldesley Swimming & Water Polo Club for hosting another great meet, to all the officials and volunteers who helped make the day possible, and to our own support team for supporting our swimmers throughout the meet.

Good luck to all our Makos racing at the Wigan & Tyldesley Season Starter Meet today! 🦈💙💛

A great chance to get the new season underway, put all that hard work from training into practice and enjoy being back on the blocks. Race hard, support each other, enjoy the day and be proud of every swim.

A Fantastic Finish for Fleetwood Makos!

A huge well done to our Fleetwood Makos Micro League Team, who wrapped up the season with a brilliant 4th place overall.

There were some fantastic swims across the final round, including a number of event wins, first-time Micro League appearances, swimmers stepping up into older age groups, and some emotional final Micro League races for those moving out of the age category next season.

A special mention to our outgoing captains Alfie and Jessie, who completed their final Micro League gala and helped bring the season to a close in style.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to our support team — Les, Matt, Aimee, Steve, Nicki and Christine — for everything they’ve done poolside.

And, of course, thank you to all of our parents and families for the lifts, the early starts, the cheering and the continued support throughout the season.

A big thank you also goes to the Micro League organisers, officials, volunteers and host teams who give their time to make these events happen. These competitions simply wouldn’t run without the people working behind the scenes.

Finally, well done to all the clubs and swimmers who competed across the season. It’s been a great series of racing and a brilliant showcase of young swimmers giving their best for their teams.

We’ll share the official final results and league tables once they are confirmed.

Wishing the very best of luck to our Fleetwood Makos Micro League team as they head into the final round of the 2026 season.

It’s been a brilliant campaign full of fast racing, big performances, and plenty of Mako pride. This is one final chance to get behind each other, race hard, and finish the season on a high.

A special good luck to every swimmer representing the club — give it everything, enjoy the experience, and make every race count.

We’re delighted to be welcoming Joe Roebuck and Amy Smith from back to Fleetwood Mako’s for the 4TH YEAR IN A ROW! 💙💛

Their visits have become a real highlight in our club calendar, giving our swimmers the chance to work with two hugely experienced Olympians on the technical details that can make such a difference in racing.

We’re really proud to continue our relationship with and to bring another high-quality development opportunity to our athletes here in Fleetwood.

Whether you’re starting at a brand-new school, entering your final year of primary or secondary school, beginning college, or returning for another exciting year, we hope the months ahead bring new friendships, brilliant opportunities and plenty of moments to feel proud of.

New beginnings can feel exciting and a little daunting, but believe in yourself, be kind, work hard and remember that every big achievement begins with taking that first step.
