U8s Medway Festival

We had 3 teams compete and all did brilliant and worked together as a team considering we’ve had the summer off and only a few sessions before our first festival, the team spirit was impressive.
We welcomed a couple of festival debutants too who took it in their stride and were guided by their teammates.

Some great tagging with plenty of turnovers we pressed well, covered the gaps and some really good try’s that involved a few passes in the build up and great use of space utilising the bigger pitches.

Great job 👏🏻

Thanks you to the parents/grandparents for making the trip and supporting our team ! 💚🤍

💚🤍 THE GREEN & WHITE INTRODUCES ITS NEWEST RECRUITS! 🏉

Our U7 squad travelled to Medway for their first-ever rugby festival… and you certainly wouldn’t have known it was their first!

From the moment they arrived, they couldn’t wait to get out and play. On and off the pitch, the energy never stopped, end-to-end enjoyment, smiles and plenty of rugby!

It was wonderful to see. We’re still not sure who was more excited, the kids or the parents! 😂

It takes a real team behind the scenes to make days like this happen, so a huge thank you and well done to our coaches and parent reps for doing such an amazing job.

Most importantly, congratulations to every one of our young players for representing Folkestone Rugby Club and the values of our game so brilliantly.

The start of their Green & White journey. 💚🤍

Onwards and upwards! 🏉

💚🤍 U9 GREEN & WHITE ARMY! 🤍💚

Our U9 Green & White Army travelled to the Medway Festival for their first contact rugby festival and what a day! 🏉☀️

We could not be prouder of every single player, coach and supporter.

The energy within this group is contagious. 8 matches. 8 wins. But more importantly, from the first whistle to the last, they never stopped working for themselves, each other and the club.

Even pitches that felt like they were on a 45-degree slope couldn’t stop them finding the try line! 😂⛰️

On and off the pitch, every one of them shone as brightly as the sun. ☀️

A brilliant first contact festival and another exciting step in their rugby journey.

Together. For each other. For FRFC. 💚🤍

🔥 FINAL KICK DRAMA IN CRANBROOK! 🔥

The Folkestone boys dug deep into the well against a well-drilled and seriously physical Cranbrook side — and what a battle it was!

A partisan home crowd were doing everything they could to unsettle our U16 kicker 😏, but the Stone kept their heads, kept grinding and kept believing.

Then, with the clock ticking down and the game on a knife edge, up stepped our resident U16 kicking sensation…

🎯 PING!

The final kick of the game sailed over to seal a 34–31 victory for Folkestone! 🏉💚

A proper old-school rugby battle. Physical, competitive and not always pretty — but character, resilience and belief got us over the line.

And as for that Cranbrook crowd…

Cheers for the motivation. 😉😂

Up the Stone! 💚

🏉 GAME 2 — BACK ON THE ROAD 🏉

This Saturday we’re back on the road for our second game of the season as we make the trip to Cranbrook! 💚💙

Cranbrook have always given us a stern test, and after a few years away, we’re relishing the opportunity to go head-to-head with them once again.

Expect a tough, competitive afternoon of rugby — exactly the kind of challenge we want.

Our U12s started their first ever league campaign away to Maidstone, two even sides looking to size each other up straight from the kick off. A deep kick into the Folkestone 22, the ball was picked up & moved quickly though the hands to Joe at fullback for a clear run to the line. Maidstone came straight back through their forwards with some strong drives to score 2 tries. Both sides were throwing everything at each other with some big shots in defence but a strong carry from Sully driving to the line to score. Both sides were trying everything to move the ball around but again Maidstone forwards put in two strong drives on the Folkestone line and squeezed over just before halftime.

The second half saw a flurry of subs come on for both sides, Maidstone again kicked deep to put pressure on the back three but from a well contested ruck Folkestone got the ball out to Reuben to jink his way to level the score. Game on but Maidstone didn’t give up again more pressure from the forwards, moving the ball though the hands Maidstone scored again. Folkestone cleared their heads and started pushing hard with the forwards & backs interchanging looking for that gap leading to a straight power run from Reuben finishing again. Both teams were starting to feel the effects of some big tackles & some loose play gave Folkestone another long range score allowing Reuben in for his hat trick. Folkestone were starting to get on top with some strong forward drives making Maidstone narrow up in defence which gave Roman his chance to see the gap, head down forcing him way over. From the kick off Maidstone came back driving to the line but Folkestone managed to get bodies underneath to hold them up. From the drop out Folkestone came up as a line putting the 15 in space kicked over the top gathered by quick hands putting Jack in the corner.

What a great performance from every single player and this truly showed a team game will win you games.
