๐ Strength training is about so much more than lifting weights. ๐
We should all aim for at least two strength-based sessions each week, and this becomes especially important for women as we move through our 40s, 50s and beyond.
Strength training can help:
๐๏ธโโ๏ธ Maintain muscle
๐ฆด Support bone health
๐ฆต Protect and support our joints
โ๏ธ Improve balance and stability
๐ฅ Support metabolism
๐ช Keep us strong and independent
And you donโt need to lift huge weights to benefit.
Thatโs one of the reasons we have Sculpt classes at Be-Fitness โ to give women a fun, supportive and accessible way to include regular strength training in their week.
Strong isnโt just how we look โ itโs how we live. ๐

๐ A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO OUR SEPTEMBER MINI CHALLENGERS! ๐
Everyone taking part in this monthโs challenge is absolutely smashing it! ๐๐ฅ
Think a fitness challenge isnโt for you?
Think you couldnโt commit to exercising every single day?
Thatโs exactly why our Mini Challenges are different!
Theyโre made up of short, bite-sized exercises that you can fit into your day whenever it suits you. You donโt even have to do them all at once!
๐ Do as much or as little as youโre able to
๐ Split the exercises up throughout the day
๐ Miss a day? No problem โ just carry on with the next one
๐ No catching up and no feeling guilty
๐ Everything is shared in our friendly Messenger group
Itโs simply about adding a little extra movement into your day and having a group of people doing it alongside you. ๐
And the best bit? Every month is different!
Weโll be starting a brand-new Mini Challenge on 1st October, so youโve got a few weeks to decide if you fancy joining us.
But thereโs a catchโฆ ๐คญ
You wonโt find out what Octoberโs challenge is until the 1st! ๐๐
Whoโs tempted to join us next month? ๐

THE ROAD TO INVERNESS โ 20 DAYS TO GO ๐
Itโs now less than 21 days until Inverness.
Iโve had to put aside any thoughts of getting back to the glory days of PBs, or even chasing that sub-60-minute 10K that so many runners aim for.
This time, the goal is very different.
As depressing as it is to admit, the aim is simply to get to that finish line and hopefully not be in too much pain! ๐
I can train over these next few weeks. I can work on my strength, use the bike, walk and build my fitness as much as possible โ but nothing really replaces actually running.
So you might wonderโฆ why even take part?
There are three reasons.
๐ Firstly, Inverness is my favourite event.
Itโs a fantastic route, with a brilliant finish and such a great atmosphere afterwards with the food stalls, merchandise and everything that comes with race day.
๐ Secondly, Iโm going with a group of friends.
They really are the best. Every one of us has our own things to deal with, but we're always there for each other. I'm looking forward to sharing the weekend and the experience with them.
๐ And lastly โ and probably most importantly โ race day would have been my dadโs 81st birthday.
Losing him in March still doesnโt quite seem real.
Dad was a runner. He preferred the longer distances, and he was probably my biggest supporter.
So whatever happens over those 10 kilometres, Iโll be doing this one for him. ๐
20 days and countingโฆ
Today the training continues with three classes:
๐๏ธโโ๏ธ 2 x Sculpt โ weights, balance and full-body strength
๐ฆต 1 x LBT โ perfect for strengthening the legs and core
Then we'll see what lunchtime brings โ there may even be a short indoor bike session squeezed in too. ๐ดโโ๏ธ
The goal isn't a PB this time.
The goal is to get to Inverness, get to the start line, and get to that finish line for Dad. ๐

It was time for another campervan adventure this weekend as we travelled around the North East 250 ๐๐
We decided to extend our travels a little further, heading along to Hopeman, Findhorn and Nairn, before making our way home via one of our favourite cafรฉs for a final stop โ๏ธ๐ฅฐ
Another brilliant weekend exploring more of Scotland, discovering new places and revisiting a few favourites along the way. There really is so much to see right on our doorstep! ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

๐โโ๏ธ๐ The Road to Inverness โ 24 days to go! ๐๐โโ๏ธ
And stillโฆ no running yet!
After 3 classes yesterday, today is very much a rest and recovery day. Iโve still been keeping busy with knee rehab, ankle stability work and plenty of stretching, because right now the priority is getting stronger without aggravating anything.
Monday starts a new week in my rehab plan and, as long as the knee stays pain-free, Iโll be increasing my time on the exercise bike. Iโve only managed around 5 minutes at a time this week thanks to work and everything else going on, so the next goal is to gradually build that up.
Iโm definitely not where I thought I would be with only 24 days to go, but the goal remains the same: get to Inverness, get round that 10K, and enjoy the day. ๐
Itโs also the end of another Be-Fitness week ๐ and that always makes me a little sad! But weโve had 6 brilliant classes, lots of laughs, lots of hard work, and Iโm already looking forward to doing it all again next week.
Follow along as I share the good days, the frustrating days, the rehab, the training and hopefullyโฆ the return to running! ๐ค๐โโ๏ธ

Today marks 4 weeks until the River Ness 10Kโฆ and Iโm still not running! ๐ฌ๐โโ๏ธ
Partly because Iโm still feeling a few niggles in the knee, but also because Iโll admit Iโm a little wary about actually getting started again.
So, the next 4 weeks are all about getting the knee stronger and more stable, gradually building confidence, and deciding on the best strategy for race day โ perhaps a bit of Jeffing might be the answer! ๐๐
The goal? To get to that start line, enjoy the experience and make it to the finish.
Follow along as I take you with me through the next few days and weeks on my Road to Inverness. ๐ช๐ป๐โโ๏ธ

After a successful quick trip into Dundee to run a couple of errands, I was back home for a little Starbucks break โ a chai latte for me, of course, since I donโt drink coffee! And yes, we did share the chocolate muffin ๐
Now Iโm back home with the log burner on for the rest of the afternoon.

Food shop in the local supermarket this afternoon and, despite it still being August, the festive sweets have already started appearing on the shelves! ๐๐ซ
Surely anyone buying them now is just going to eat them long before Christmas and then have to buy them all over again! ๐
Can we please have a rule that supermarkets keep the festive goodies hidden away until at least after Bonfire Night? ๐
August is far too early for Christmas chocolate! ๐๐
