🩷 Do you find yourself getting so hungry that you’ll eat anything in sight?

Like and follow for practical nutrition, exercise and mindset strategies to help you feel better through perimenopause. 🩷

Today, I forgot to have my afternoon snack.

Six hours passed without eating, and by the time I realised, I was:

🩷 Hangry
🩷 Low on energy
🩷 Absolutely starving

Before I knew it, I was eating everything I could find just to fill the gap.

And it reminded me why regular eating matters—especially during perimenopause.

When you go too long without eating, you may experience:

🩷 Low energy
🩷 Increased hunger
🩷 Stronger cravings
🩷 Difficulty making balanced food choices
🩷 Feeling like you need to eat everything in sight

It’s not about eating constantly or following a rigid schedule.

It’s about giving your body enough nourishment throughout the day so you’re not reaching the point of feeling desperate for food.

For me, that might mean having a balanced breakfast, lunch, dinner and an afternoon snack when needed.

Don’t wait until you’re completely depleted to feed your body.

Regular, balanced meals can help you feel more energised, satisfied and in control around food.

If you’re constantly reaching for chocolate, biscuits or something sweet, it may not simply be about willpower.

During perimenopause, changing hormones can affect how your body manages blood sugar.

And when your meals are low in protein, fibre or healthy fats, you may feel hungry again soon after eating.

Stress can also increase cravings, while poor sleep can leave you wanting quick energy the next day.

So instead of trying to fight the cravings, start by supporting your body.

Build balanced meals with protein, fibre and healthy fats.
Eat regularly rather than skipping meals.
And prioritise stress management and sleep where you can.

You don’t need to cut out sugar completely.

The goal is to understand what your body needs and create habits that help you feel more balanced. 🩷

Trying to manage your perimenopause belly by cutting out carbs? 🩷

My FREE Peri Belly Blueprint can help you understand what may be contributing to your changing belly and what you can do to support your body.

For years, women have been told that carbs are the problem.

“Cut out bread.”
“Stop eating pasta.”
“Carbs make you gain weight.”

And when your body starts changing during perimenopause, it can be tempting to believe them.

But I’m not cutting out carbs to manage my perimenopause belly.

I’ve definitely felt the pressure to restrict foods, but I’m no longer interested in avoiding foods I enjoy just because my body is changing.

Carbohydrates provide energy for your body and brain. Foods such as oats, potatoes, rice, fruit, beans and wholegrains can all be part of a balanced diet.

The key is what you pair them with.

Try combining carbohydrates with:

💪 Protein
🌾 Fibre
🥑 Healthy fats

For example:

🍞 Toast with eggs
🥣 Oats with Greek yoghurt and seeds
🍚 Rice with chicken and vegetables
🥔 Potatoes with salmon and salad

This can help make meals more satisfying and support steadier blood sugar.

Changing hormones can affect body composition, appetite and blood sugar regulation, but cutting out carbs isn’t automatically the answer.

I’m focusing on balanced meals, enough protein, plenty of fibre, regular movement and consistency rather than restriction.

Because nourishing your body and managing your weight don’t have to be opposites. 🩷

🩷 Want to understand why losing weight can feel so much harder in perimenopause?

Grab my FREE Perimenopause Belly Blueprint to learn more about what could be contributing to your changing body.

Could years of yo-yo dieting be one reason you’re gaining weight in perimenopause?

Every time you lose weight, you can lose muscle as well as fat.

Then when the weight comes back, you may regain more fat than muscle.

The first time might not seem like a big deal.

But repeat that cycle again and again, and over time you can end up with:

⬇️ Less muscle ⬆️ More body fat ⬇️ A softer body composition 😩 Weight that feels harder and harder to shift

And suddenly, the things that used to work don’t seem to work anymore.

The answer isn’t another restrictive diet.

Instead, focus on protecting and building muscle, eating enough protein, strength training, and creating sustainable habits that support your changing body. 🩷

The breakfast mistake I see so many women making in perimenopause? 🩷

Starting the day with a breakfast that’s low in protein.

Think toast, cereal or a pastry on its own.

These foods aren’t bad, but they may not keep you satisfied for long.

And during perimenopause, getting enough protein becomes especially important for maintaining muscle and supporting your metabolism.

So what could a more balanced breakfast look like?

🍳 Eggs on wholegrain toast with fruit
🥣 Greek yoghurt with berries, nuts and seeds
🌾 Overnight oats with added seeds — there are tons of great ideas online!

The goal is to bring together protein, fibre and healthy fats to help support energy and appetite throughout the morning.

It’s not about eating perfectly.

It’s about giving your body more of what it needs now. 🩷

Eating healthy but still gaining weight during perimenopause? 🩷

My FREE Peri Belly Blueprint can help you understand what may be happening and how to support your changing body.

I know how frustrating it can feel when you’re doing all the things you thought were right, but your body is changing anyway.

I’ve experienced this myself.

But here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not always about doing more or eating less.

As oestrogen changes, your body can respond differently to food, exercise, stress and sleep.

You may be losing muscle, storing fat differently, or experiencing changes in appetite and blood sugar.

That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means your body may need a different kind of support now.

The goal isn’t to fight your changing body. It’s to understand it, nourish it and help it feel its best. 🩷

Struggling with your perimenopause belly? 🩷

The perimenopause belly isn’t always about fat.

I know this because I’ve experienced it myself.

At 52, I’ve noticed changes in my body that I never had before — including a belly that can feel very different throughout the day.

And sometimes, what you’re seeing or feeling isn’t simply weight gain.

Hormonal fluctuations can affect digestion, water retention and where your body stores fat.

You might wake up feeling comfortable, then find your stomach feels bloated or tight by evening.

That doesn’t mean you need to eat less or start another restrictive diet.

It means it’s worth understanding what’s happening and learning how to support your changing body. 🩷

I’m not just coaching perimenopause. I’m living it too. 🩷

And I think that’s important for you to know.

I’m 51 and navigating the hormonal changes just like so many of you.

My body has changed. The belly I never had before appeared. My body doesn’t respond to food and exercise in quite the same way it used to.

My mind has changed too. I’ve experienced brain fog, forgotten conversations, lost my train of thought and walked into a room wondering why I was there.

And sleep? That’s been a journey too.

I’ve had to rethink how I eat, how I move, how I manage stress, how I prioritise sleep and how I make time for myself.

It’s a constant learning curve.

But learning to listen to my body and figure out what works for me now?

Honestly, that feels pretty AWESOME! 🩷

I don’t have it all figured out — and I don’t think anyone does.

I’m constantly learning, adapting and discovering what helps me feel my best.

I’m in it with you, and I’m sharing what I learn along the way.

If you’re struggling with your perimenopause belly, I’ve created a FREE Perimenopause Belly Blueprint to help you understand what may be happening and what you can do to support your body.
