One minute you’re paddling along, next minute you’re face-to-face with a handful of seaweed (and probably a few hidden creatures too!).

But every day is a chance to explore and learn.

This is exactly what our Ocean School is all about — getting stuck in, asking questions, and learning without even realising it.

There’s always a bit of “what is THAT?!”, a few laughs, and loads of little discoveries along the way.

It’s not classroom learning… but somehow it sticks a whole lot more.

Look at this fantastic photo of our beautiful resident seal, Serena! Taken by the lovely The Lone Kayaker, Rupert Kirkwood.

Serena is a common seal (harbour seal) who loves to fish in the estuary. We often see her hunting or basking in the sun during our Wildlife and Waterfront kayak tours to Fowey.

Did you know… 👀

1. They love fish – Common seals eat lots of fish, and sometimes crabs. Serena had plenty to snack on in the Fowey!
2. They rest on land – They come out of the water to sleep on beaches, rocks, sandbanks, or even picnic beach near Sawmils!
3. They shed their fur – Common seals moult once a year, growing a fresh, shiny coat.

We LOVE seeing Serena – she’s a firm favourite with all our visitors, young and old! 🦭💛

First tour of the year complete! ✅ And what a lovely one it was! We paddled up to Lerryn on the incoming tide, stopped for a well-earned cuppa and cake, then cruised back to sunny Golant. Great conditions, brilliant clients and seriously good cake… what more could you ask for? 👌

So good to kick off the season after a wild and weathered winter. Feeling excited for all the tours, adventures and good times ahead for the 2026 season! ☀️🚣‍♀️

Is it just me… or is there a bright orange orb in the sky today?! Feels strangely familiar — like something we haven’t seen in a while 😂 (whisper it so it doesn’t disappear!)

I’ve been a little quiet on here because it’s been full steam ahead behind the scenes getting everything ready for the 2026 season!

Our fun & relaxing kayak tours are back (March & April sessions are LIVE now!), SUP sessions are coming soon, and we’ve got loads of exciting new things lined up that I cannot wait to share with you.

What a year it’s been! From kayaking tours and paddleboarding sessions, to school groups, SUP Polo, and our kids clubs—we’ve been busy, having a blast, and loving every moment!

What an autumn it’s been! 🥰 Just a couple of weeks ago, we went out for a skills paddle in Fowey, practicing up and down winding, self-rescue and playing around with different turns.

At one point, the wind completely dropped—it felt like a summer’s day. Calm, still, and surprisingly warm. I absolutely love coaching this crew 😊

Look who we bumped into on our Creeks and Backwaters tour on Sunday! While paddling up Penpol Creek, we spotted this curious fox foraging — it seemed to take a particular interest in a piece of rope.

We also had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Rupert Kirkwood (aka ), who kindly captured and shared this moment with us. 📸

We absolutely love exploring the Fowey — there’s always something magical to see, especially the incredible variety of wildlife. 🥰

We want to give a huge shout-out to one of our amazing, paddling Time2Movers, Joseph!

Joseph has been nominated for BBC Cornwall’s ‘Make a Difference Awards’ — and we couldn’t be happier for him!

Joseph writes a brilliant series of books called ‘Joseph and his Shadow’, which help children (and grown ups) understand what it means to be diagnosed with autism, and show that it’s not a bad thing — just a different way of seeing the world.

What an incredible day yesterday at Fowey’s very first SUP Polo competition for Fowey Royal Regatta - 3rd Week in August! The event was a huge success with amazing team spirit and fantastic crowd support throughout!

A massive congratulations to Fowey River Hire on your win — that penalty shootout was so exciting and full of energy! 🤩
