Have you ever been interested in Meditation but thought it might be 'too difficult' or a bit 'mysterious'?

Join our next 4 session workshop, learning about different techniques and discover one (or more) that suits you. The techniques include Yoga Nidra (A guided Sivasana), Metta Meditation, Trataka, Japa Meditation and Pranayame techniques.

GLORIOUS GRAVEL

We are excited to welcome Glorious Gravel to West Wight Sports & Community Centre tomorrow.

On Saturday 19th September, they will be returning to the Isle of Wight for 4th year of Wight Roads Gravel Epic. With three different routes on offer, there is something for all riders.

The Wight Roads Gravel Epic takes in the best off roading with some glorious coastal paths, gravel tracks through woodland & quiet backroads as we go off the beaten track on the Isle of Wight.

Choose between the 48km, 66km or full 100km loop all from Freshwater. Hop over for the day with an early ferry from Lymington or make a weekend of it on this brilliant island for gravel riding.

⚠️🚨 WING WALK RESCHEDULED 🚨⚠️

We’re delighted to announce that, after a short postponement, Jason’s Wing Walk has now been rescheduled and will be taking place this Saturday in Exeter!

Jason will be taking on this incredible challenge as he takes to the skies for a Wing Walk, stepping outside his comfort zone to help raise vital funds for a fantastic cause.

This is certainly not an everyday challenge, and we’re incredibly proud of Jason for taking on such a daring and memorable experience. We hope you’ll join us in supporting him as he prepares to take flight!

Today is National Fitness Day, an annual campaign run by Ukactive, celebrating the importance of physical activity and encouraging everyone to get moving in a way that works for them.

We’re proud to bring opportunities to be active right here in West Wight. From swimming and fitness classes to pickleball and local community groups, there’s something for everyone, of all ages and abilities, to enjoy.

Whether it’s a swim, a walk, dancing, a game of pickleball, or simply getting up and moving a little more—every bit counts!

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and supported Eco Refill Week last week. It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved, trying new products and helping us spread the word about this brilliant volunteer-run scheme. 💚

Now that Eco Refill Week has finished, our normal opening times are back this week:

💙 Our Place at West Wight Sports & Community Centre

Did you know that every Tuesday, our Centre hosts Our Place, a welcoming community drop-in where local people can come along for a cuppa, a chat and access to a wide range of information, advice and support?

Our Place brings together different organisations and services throughout the month, making it easier for people to access support right here in their local community.

Depending on the week, you may find support from:

🔹 Living Well and Early Help
🔹 Age UK
🔹 AIM², supporting autistic and ADHD adults

🔹 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police

There’s also free use of our pool tables and table football, hot drinks and biscuits, the opportunity to meet and chat with other members of the community, and surplus food from local supermarkets to help reduce food waste.

🌟 LAST SPACE REMAINING🌟

Strength training during perimenopause and menopause has many benefits, from helping to protect bone density and preserve muscle mass to supporting mental wellbeing and reducing anxiety.

This course runs on Tuesdays, 14:00-15:00 on the following dates – 29th September; 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th October; 3rd November. This course costs £66 for 6 weeks.

Over this six-week course, we’ll explore a range of strength exercises, both with and without weights, in a relaxed, friendly, and informal environment. We’ll also touch on nutrition during menopause and how this can complement your strength training.

By the end of the six weeks, we hope you’ll feel more confident with the exercises, better equipped to continue your strength-training journey, and more empowered to navigate the challenges of perimenopause and menopause.

Our brilliant volunteer-run Eco Refill team are at West Wight Sports and Community Centre every morning this week from 10:00am to 12:00 noon, with a fantastic range of household and personal care products available to refill.
