As the season draws to a close, it's almost time to say goodbye to Daniel Stanley, as he sets off for Christchurch, New Zealand tomorrow. Dan's been the central focus of our Batting performances this season at the club and his numbers are outstanding.

He has played 29 matches for us; 21 in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League and a further 8 across the Tyneside Charity Bowl, The Thomas Wilson Cup & the Eric Topham Cup.

In terms of League matches alone, he has ammassed 1210 runs from 21 innings, reaching 50 on 9 occasions, together with 2 hundreds with a high score of 173 away at Stocksfield, to give him an average of 67.22 with a strike rate of 101.54. He also chipped in with 10 wickets from 33 overs, at an average of 12.6, a strike rate of 19.8 and an economy rate of 3.82. His best figures were 5-36 away at Whickham. Dan topped this off with 10 catches, in what is safely the best return with the willow from a player for some years at Swalwell Cricket Club.

Add to that a further 418 runs across 8 Cup matches, recording 4 half centuries and one ton - his highest score of 119* versus the Civil Service, giving him an average of 69.67 and a strike rate of 150.36. Chipping in with 4 wickets from 13 overs with best figures of 2-22 against Consett and 5 victims in the field - 4 catches and a run out.

We've also been treated to the Geordie version of 'Lunch With Stanners' with several picture samples to remind Dan and everyone at the club about a successful 2026 season. Dan has been - at least in 'Dan Land' - competing with Luke Doneathy from Stocksfield CC & Waleed Rehman from GEMS CC for the Top Run Scorer Title in the NTCL and his 98 runs in the final match of the season at Consett, ensured he came out on top by 90 runs!!!

Thanks for your efforts this season, Dan along with some huge hitting and for bringing a lot of entertainment to all of us here at Derwenthaugh Park. Definitely stick to cricket and avoid boxing. Safe travels back to New Zealand and carry on smashing the runs all over the park - Dan The Man!!! 🏏🏏🏏

The first post-season date for all players, along with their families and friends diaries is confirmation of our Senior Presentation, which will take place in the Clubhouse on Friday 2nd October 2026, commencing at 7pm. Your club officials look forward to welcoming you to a fantastic awards night!

If all players can ensure they return trophies they won following the 2025 season tomorrow, so Paul Dumighan can organise engraving etc... prior to our big night.

As if by magic, the final matchday of the 2026 season takes place this Saturday. At Swalwell Cricket Club our 2nd XI host Blyth Cricket Club 1st XI with wickets pitched at 12.30pm.
The bar will be open from 12pm with Toasties and an excellent selection of beverages available and they'd welcome your support. 🍺🏏

Meanwhile our 1st XI make the trip to Blackfyne to face Consett Cricket Club with wickets again pitched at 12.30pm. The NTCL title is still on the line following last week's results. Morpeth's lead has been cut to 13 points and they host our friends from 'up the bank' Whickham Cricket Club. Can we make it back to back titles for the first time since 2017 & 2018? One thing's for certain, we've certainly reached 'squeaky bum time'! 🏏🏏

This Saturday we have a top of the table clash. Swalwell Cricket Club 1st XI currently sit in 2nd place and host table topping Morpeth Cricket Club with wickets pitched at 12.30pm. Can our lads take the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League title race to the last weekend of the season?

Meanwhile our 1st XI make the short trip along the Tyne Valley to face Ryton Cricket Club, with wickets again pitched at 12.30pm.

Great to see some of our Junior section at Swalwell Cricket Club having a practice match last night.
It’s great game time before they embark on their U9, U11 and U13 fixtures next season.

Swalwell Cricket Club Ladies have been in action again this week, with a trip to face Ryton Cricket Club Ladies. Team Coach and 'roving reporter' Peter Scött updates us once again on continuing good progress for our newest side.....

Our ladies took a trip to Ryton on Monday evening for a friendly match.
As usual, they turned up with their A game and posted a healthy 96-1. Ryton Ravens put the pressure on but were pinned back to finish with 91-4.
A cracking victory again, with our ladies developing and improving week on week.
