⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️

🦁 Winslow U9 Lions vs Newport Pagnell U9 Lions 🦁

An early start for both sets of Lions this week, but our boys arrived wide awake and ready to go! 💪⚽️

Winslow Lions started strongly, with the first two quarters seeing us enjoy plenty of possession and really pushing forwards. The boys looked confident in attack, moving the ball well and creating some great opportunities.

The second two quarters were much closer, with both teams battling hard. It was another strong team performance, with some big saves from our keeper helping to keep a clean sheet and ensure the Lions stayed strong right through to the final whistle. 🧤🦁

💫 PARENTS’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH – HENRY 💫

Henry really impressed this week with a fantastic performance both on and off the ball. He worked hard to come short and receive the ball, made some key passes and showed great composure, taking his time on the ball before some@great strikes ⚽️👏

⭐️ COACHES’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH – NOAH ⭐️

This was a game where Noah had to be on top form. He showed great confidence playing out from the back, coming off his line to make important tackles and producing key saves on more than one occasion to keep Winslow in the match. 🧤🔥

Another brilliant effort from all the boys! The hard work, teamwork and determination continue to shine through. 👏🦁

⚽️ U8 Pumas played their first home game of the season and welcomed HEJ Athletic Blue.

From the first minute the Pumas were full of energy and chasing every loose ball. When in possession there was some fantastic driving runs resulting in well taken shots.

💫 Supporters player of the Match went to Logan. His confidence is increasing every week and today was his best performance yet.

⭐️ Player of the Match went to Charlie. He tackled anything that moved and gave the rest of the team great confidence.

⭐️ U8 Tigers POTM: Albie ⭐️

What a great start of the new season for the Tigers 🐯 we started the game full of energy and confidence, some of the passing and tackling on display was just incredible to watch. It was such a hard game to pick a player of the match as everyone played their hearts out and left nothing on the pitch! Albie just pipped it to the award with his confidence and great ball control topped off with a hatrick for good measure.

All in all it was a fantastic game for the Tigers 🐯🙌🏾

Well, the first game of the new season certainly did not disappoint! ⚽️

Goals, saves, strong tackles and plenty of determination came from both sides. The Lions dug deep and made sure Woburn & Wavendon Tornadoes knew exactly who they were up against! 💪🦁

It was a fantastic team performance from the boys, and they should all be incredibly proud of the result and the way they played.

💫 PARENTS’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH – ZACHARY 💫

Zachary put in a fantastic performance, showing strength both in midfield and upfront. His ability to win the ball, drive forward and pick out key passes made a real difference to the team. 👏⚽️

🏆 COACHES’ PLAYER OF THE MATCH – JACK 🏆

What Jack showed today was a performance well beyond his years. He read the game brilliantly, cutting out attacking play when Winslow needed him most. His long passes from deep inside his own half helped release other players and gave them the time and space to move forward. A fantastic display! 👏🔥

⚽️ U11 Tigers | Player of the Match ⭐️

The U11 Tigers were finally back in action today for their first game of he season and what a feeling it was to be back!

There was plenty of energy from the whole team, with the boys showing great enthusiasm, effort and a real desire to get back out there and play football.

Today’s Player of the Match award goes to one of the newest members of the Tigers, Ostap, who put in a fantastic performance.

Ostap’s work rate was excellent from start to finish. His engine never stopped, supporting the team going forward and then working tirelessly to track back and help out defensively.

He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself as he caused their midfieldand defence all sorts of issues, but his confidence and positive attitude were clear to see throughout the game. A brilliant all-round performance.

SEASON BEGINS AGAIN! 🦁

A day back out there for the Lions! 💙

Winslow were steady in play today, although we never really looked fully settled or focused. There are definitely positives to take, which was great to see some of our set pieces from Tuesday’s training session put into action today — and to see the hard work rewarded! ⚽️👏 Well done!

We are Lions. We continue to roar, stay strong and keep working together. 🦁💪

💥Parents’ Player – Freddie
As always, Freddie showed a very strong understanding of the game and reads situations incredibly well. Strong in the challenges, played some great balls up the field and put in a fantastic shift today. Brilliant job, Freddie! 👏👍

💥Manager’s Player – Albie
A very solid performance at the back from Albie. He timed his tackles really well and, like Freddie, showed a great understanding of the game. A fantastic job today — well deserved! 👏🦁

⚽️ Match report - U12 Pumas ⚽️

A great performance from the team showing determination throughout a real tough game. Early penalty conceded and we were 1 nil down after a couple of minutes. As always the guys kept their heads and played with passion.
A few errors in communication and maybe taking too many touches on the middle of the pitch probbably cost us today so we will work on that but today was really positive and I feel will some slight improvements on those areas we can have a great season.

Tournament report:

What a fantastic effort from the Winslow United Juniors U16 Lions today, finishing as Runners-Up! 🥈

The boys put in solid team performances across the board, anchored by an incredible defensive display that saw us keep a clean sheet in every single game. With matches lasting just 12 minutes, chances were tight, but the work rate and focus never dropped.

Highlights of the day:

- Solid at the Back with 0 goals conceded in open play all tournament!
- ⁠League Phase: Finished 3rd out of 6 in a fiercely competitive group.
- ⁠Top Scorer: Huge shoutout to Finley for netting our league phase goal to see us through ⚽
• Semi Final : A tense 0-0 sent us to penalties, where the team stepped up brilliantly under pressure to book our spot in the final.

• The Final: Another hard-fought 0-0 draw before falling just short in a penalty shootout.

It’s always tough to lose on penalties, but every single player who stepped up to take one showed immense courage.

To go undefeated in open play all day is something to be hugely proud of.

Huge well done to the whole squad. Looking forward to the season ahead!

What a way to start the season! 🏆🟡🔵⚽️

Today we entered the Shenley Tournament, and we knew we were in for a tough and very competitive group — but these boys were absolutely amazing! 👏

Every single player worked their socks off and played their part in making today so special. Some fantastic football was on display, with some brilliant goals scored throughout the tournament. ⚽️🔥

And I think Albie’s goal tops them all — what an absolute strike! 🚀👏 Well done, Albie!

After a fantastic day of football, we came away as TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! 🏆 🥇

We couldn’t be more proud of these 9 boys. ❤️ Every game they showed determination, teamwork and a fantastic attitude.

Keep up the hard work, boys! The team is developing at a great pace and it’s brilliant to see how far you’re coming already.
