The right type of support is vital!

Understanding when to ask, how to ask and who to ask can be tricky but at the end of the day, just ask!

Struggling with the gym? Ask someone that goes at the same time as you!

Struggling with mental barriers? Speak with friends about it, they can help!

Struggling with over working yourself? Ask YOURSELF what is important!

Make a list, most important at the top, stuff that can wait at the bottom! Reorganize yourself and it'll get a lot easier!

The real issue we all face is not wanting to be too much for people but by bottling it up and not concerning other people with it, it becomes too much for you! Speak, share and even overshare!

You aren't too much, you are the perfect amount!

Slightly different post as I'm not in gym gear for once πŸ˜…

It's been a tough year, mentally, physically and emotionally. Mentally this year has probably been one of the most challenging yet! Physically it's been fantastic and emotionally it has been absurd!

I made the choice to speak to my GP earlier this year and I was guided to start looking into ADHD and getting on the wait-list to see a specialist for, potentially, a diagnosis.

This was one of the moments this year where things seemed to click and make sense (finally)! I've always heard ADHD was just about super hyperactivity and being disruptive, so never seriously thought about it as a potential answer for me but upon educating myself I learned there is so much more to it!

The forgetting, the emotional outbursts, the difficulty with basic tasks, the difficulty switching off, the fidgeting, the lack of focus, the issue with handling stress, THE FU***NG KITCHEN SINK! Everything made a little sense.

That leads up to this week, what felt like the end of all the s**t this year! I sat at the work night out and felt comfortable. Conversations with people so much more talented than me about their struggles helped me realize it's ok to have these issues and to not hide it. To seek help, to speak about your journey and to speak about it to make sure others don't feel they can't speak about it! It was amazing!

First time in a while I sat last night and cried for what felt like no reason, but I think it was relief, the relief of knowing not everyone is perfect and to really appreciate the people around us as well!

Everyone loves a great workout and the feeling after smashing a workout is unbelievable! But how can you make sure each workout is as good as the last?

Here are 3 tips to make sure your workouts are top tier every time!

1- KEEP REPS CONTROLLED- Slow and controlled, feel the contraction in the muscles you are working πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

2- 2 HEAVY, 1 FAILURE- Try for 2 sets with fairly heavy weight, aim to complete 6-10 reps here and then drop the weight for 1 set and go for 15+ reps with the same controlled form! πŸ’ͺ

3- REST- Let your rest stay around 2-3 minutes per set! Longer rest=more recovery=more controlled reps!

Any other advice, why not drop it in the comments to help someone out!

So it's been a week (and change) since Hyrox Birmingham...

It wasn't perfect at all, however I have come away from it feeling like it was a perfect learning experience!

Strength was good, no event really killed me which was my plan going into it! Our only problem was completely unavoidable scenarios that we ( and I) couldn't have planned for, which is a big win (weirdly)! The new phase of training and getting back into full training is exciting again!

Cramp killed my calves on the last 2 km of the race but we pushed through and completed the race πŸŽ‰

Onto Toulouse and then solos for a while to give a rest from the death stares πŸ˜‚

Climbed my first Munro on Sunday πŸŽ‰

What did I learn?

We are capable of much more than we give ourselves credit for. I have no hill walking gear at all, no clue how hard it can be and no water proof clothing either πŸ₯²

I had an old pair of Nike Blazers, multipurpose gym gear and 2 really experienced friends either side of me.

While there was only so much these experienced gents could do, I had to pull myself up and tell myself it is possible and I can do it!

This is exactly the same with any journey in life, find yourself some experience to rely on but you have to put in the work, you have to do your part, you CAN do your part!

The sense of accomplishment was unbelievable, the weather was bad for views but the experience was invaluable!

Climb the mountain, experience the high and keep pushing for more!

Entering the Tiger Woods era πŸ‘€

How can this be relevant to the gym and PT?

Well it's super simple, what I offer isn't competition prep, it's how to live a balanced lifestyle that allows you to be in the best shape possible and enjoy activities like never before!

It's not a secret that we want to do more, let me share the methods and help you find your new self! β›³

If you need someone to kick you into gear, send me a 'Fore' via DM 🏌️

Btw, this drive went 300 yards.. πŸ‘€

Rest and support

Time away to rest is just as important as the workouts. Leaning on a supportive network is VITAL!

A quick rest for a family wedding and time away from everything helps refocus yourself towards your end result.

Ever found yourself bored and with no direction, that's fine! Take some time away, a day, a week or a month! It's all good, as long as you bring yourself back.

Rest, reassess and ready to try again. It's about the little wins until we reach that end goal.

Love yourself, you are doing great!

Perspective

'a particular attitude towards or way of regarding something; a point of view'

Stop comparing yourself to someone with different goals, different abilities and different circumstances!

You are enough, you are making small strides towards an end goal, small steps equal consistent progress.

I've had to change a lot over the last few months, toxic people, toxic environments and toxic mindset.

The best way to get out is to change your point of view, reevaluate, realign and get yourself back on track.

It's the small wins, celebrate them!

We can do it!

Where have I been?

Well who would've thought fulltime employment, running a PT business and being a dad to an almost 1 year old would be time consuming and Instagram might just fall behind slightly πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

But you know what it's helped me realize?
There is always time for me, for me to workout, for me to do the things I enjoy and most importantly, for me to spend time with my family. That means there's time for you as well, you just need to find it! βœ¨πŸŽ‰

Learn what to prioritize and when to get things done massively helps when forming a routine, it takes trial and error and you won't get it right on the first go but that doesn't mean you completely give up!

Get back up, try things differently and keep moving forward! πŸ‹οΈπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

If you need an extra hand with anything and learning how to prioritize yourself and your fitness, why not send me a DM saying 'Priority' and I'll see how I can help!

I promise it gets easier, just keep your head up! ✨😎

I pride myself on getting to know my clients and the positive relationship that is formed from the training!

Emma has been a STAR! She is back in London city now and loving life so this is a little post about her journey!

The journey was difficult, there were some trying times but Emma always preserved! Emma was super social and a very busy woman, so finding time to train and finding the right program was VITAL!

We looked at her diet and her cravings and made minor adjustments to prioritize protein and fibre to ensure she was staying fuller for longer. Her dedication to the workouts was immaculate, 2 sessions with me and 3 by herself while maintaining a busy social life and super busy work schedule!

The support was about making fitness fit in her timetable and making it fun!

It was a pleasure to work with Emma and I wish her all the best!
